Garden Tour (Bluegrass Cat - Winter Garden by Roy) makes start number one, facing 8 at Calder. He has been working at that track, including 4 furlongs in :49.60 from the gate on July 18. Grade III winner Winter Garden, dam of Garden Tour, won her first 2 races at 2, and earned $902,788 in her career. She has produced one winner from one to run, the Speightstown 4-year-old gelding Outta Speight. Winter Garden is a half sister to 2 winners. Bluegrass Cat's 22 runners have made 38 total starts, recording 8 wins, 6 seconds, 4 thirds, and $249,775 in earnings.

Also debuting in this one are Kaka (In Excess (IRE) - Ploesti Flight by Lucky North) and Cape Rico (Around the Cape - Canberra by Silver Hawk). Kaka, who sold for $4,700 as a yearling, is the first foal out of the winning mare Ploesti Flight. Ploesti Flight was a winner at 2, and is a half sister to 7 winners, including stakes winner Chatter Chatter. Chatter Chatter is the dam of the Bluegrass Cat 2-year-old filly Bluegrass Chatter. As an aside, I wonder how many other Florida-breds are by California-based In Excess. Cape Rico is by freshman sire Around the Cape, whose 4 runners have made 7 total starts without placing, while earning $4,874. Cape Rico is out of the winning mare Canberra, who has produced 5 winners, including stakes winner Vicar Love. Three of Cape Rico's siblings won at 2, and one was a debut winner that season.

Made for a Mission (Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) - Mira Mesa by Gulch), Blue Frolic (Bachelor Blues - Fanny's Frolic by Green Dancer), and Hungry Wildcat (Margie's Wildcat - Lakefield Miss by Ordway) finished 4th, 5th, and 6th in a 5.5 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Calder on June 24. Made for a Mission previously finished 7th in a 4.5 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Calder on May 29. He is the second foal out of the unplaced mare Mira Mesa. Mira Mesa is a half sister to 5 winners, including stakes winner Make Your Mark, and grade II winner Bosque Redondo. Blue Frolic subsequently finished 4th in a 5 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Calder on July 5. He is the only runner so far for freshman sire Bachelor Blues. Grade II winner Bachelor Blues won 2 races at 2, including the Summer Stakes; and earned $353,019 overall. Blue Frolic is a half brother to 9 winners, including 2 that won at 2. Fanny's Frolic, dam of Blue Frolic, is a full sister to 3 winners, including grade III winner Fabulous Frolic; and a half sister to 8 winners, including grade III winner Lindsay Frolic. Hungry Wildcat previously finished 6th at 4.5 furlongs on a sloppy track at Calder on June 11. He is the first foal out of the unraced mare Lakefield Miss. Lakefield Miss is a daughter of stakes-placed Lease Peace.

Joe Short Pants (B L's Appeal - Mi Santa by Saint Ballado), which in my humble opinion is an excellent name, finished 5th, in front of Made for a Mission, on May 29 at Calder. He has 2 additional starts, finishing 4th at 4.5 furlongs on May 21, and 8th at 5 furlongs on June 25. All of his starts have been Maiden Claiming races at Calder. Joe Short Pants is a full brother to 2 winners, and a half brother to 2 winners. One of his full siblings was a winner at 2. Mi Santa, dam of Joe Short Pants, is a half sister to 4 winners.

Steven's Perfect (First Tour - Perfect Ten by Out of Place) finished 5th, behind Joe Short Pants, on May 21 at Calder. It was his only start. He is the second foal out of the winning mare Perfect Ten. Perfect Ten is a full sister to one winner, and a half sister to 8 winners.

Stormin' On Home (February Storm - Homeland by Current Hope) finished 4th in his lone start, a 4.5 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Calder on July 11. He is out of stakes winner Homeland. Homeland was a winner at 2, and earned $241,547 in her career. She has produced 5 winners, including one that was a debut winner at 2.
