A Wickedly Perfect Sorrento

Final Mesa (Sky Mesa - Final Style by Smart Style) was favored, with the maiden Izshelegal (Maria's Mon - Unkatzable by A. P. Indy) and A Z Warrior (Bernardini - Carson Jen by Carson City) also receiving plenty of attention at the windows. Landaluce winner Dawnie Macho (Macho Uno - Blush of Dawn by Montbrook) seemed a little on edge on the track. Izshelegal looked good warming up. Final Mesa was a professional in the prelims, although she did seem to get a little agitated as post time approached. The start was decent. Dawnie Macho took the early lead, with Final Mesa and Wickedly Perfect (Congrats - Wickedly Wise by Tactical Cat) involved as well. A Z Warrior was well-positioned and soon began to move. Dawnie Macho retreated after a half, she ended up last. Final Mesa hung around for awhile longer, but then she began to weaken as well. A Z Warrior made a nice move on the outside, and seemed like she would go on by, but Wickedly Perfect pulled away again. A Z Warrior did outfinish Izshelegal, who was making a closing move of her own. Wickedly Perfect is the second stakes winner for freshman sire Congrats. A Z Warrior is now grade III stakes-placed and has earned $54,600 in her 2 starts. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Sorrento here.

First-timer My Lucky Fortune (Purge - My Lucky Free by Mazel Trick) was favored, Runbellamyrun (Bellamy Road - Byebyebabybyebye by Glitterman) was 4-1. Mollywould (Eurosilver - Unsinkable Ship by Stormy Atlantic) was a late scratch. The load was pretty smooth, and the break was fair. Like Mama Like Mia (With Distinction - Mia Fast Trick by Favorite Trick) went to the lead, pursued by Wild Flight (Forest Wildcat - Fabled Flyer by Fusaichi Pegasus). My Lucky Fortune watched these 2 in third. Runbellamyrun was mid-pack early. My Lucky Fortune took a run at Like Mama Like Mia after a couple of furlongs.
