Scaring Away the Competition

The track was fast, and the only scratch was Please Endorse (Canadian Frontier - Enchant by War Chant). His entrymate, The Ole Gen (The Daddy - Hollie Collie by Roanoke), stayed in the race. Glass Art (Hennessy - Yard Art by Lasting Approval) took all of the early money, but Casperzapper (Ghostzapper - Just Fly by Capote) was the slight favorite at post time. Jinjalad (Bellamy Road - Maria Dolores by Prized) was ignored at 24-1. The Ole Gen was a little feisty in the paddock, as was Private Tale (Tale of the Cat - Taint by Private Account). In the post parade, he reared, but the rider stayed on. Jinjalad looked decent on the track, as did Unbridled Tune (Songandaprayer - Frenchglen by Forestry). Casperzapper broke on top, but was passed by South Fleet (Flower Alley - Capacity by Capote) and Unbridled Tune. These three were in close contact, however. Just off of these was The Ole Gen. Jinjalad was near the back early, and Private Tale was off slowly. Casperzapper put his head in front after a half, and then began pouring it on. He cruised home 6 1/2 lengths in front. The Ole Gen was another 4 1/4 lengths in front of third-place Jinjalad, who did pick it up a little late. The two experienced horses in the race finished first (Casperzapper) and last (Unbridled Tune).Watch the Replay.
