Two-Year-Old Results

Smoking Them

The track was fast, Hunt for Colleen (Exchange Rate - Silent Beauty by Gone West) and Siren's Step (Act of Duty - Skip's Stiletto by Skip Trial) were scratched. Point Gammon (Henny Hughes - Maresha by Judge T C) opened as the favorite, but Smokehouse (Limehouse - She's Smokin by Husar (MEX)) got the nod at post time. Point Gammon looked good in the post parade, and Dopke Gal (Dance With Ravens - Larrupin Gal by Larrupin') kept catching my eye. There was a little stubborness at the load, but Point Gammon patiently waited for her turn. In Her Hey Day (Golden Missile - Freeway Fun by Awesome Again) broke on top, but Private Escort (Dance With Ravens - Im No Cynic by Two Punch) came up the rail to take the lead. These two dueled, with Kisses From Karen (Chief Seattle - Senita Lane by Ascot Knight) and Smokehouse just off of them. In the stretch, Private Escort shook free from In Her Hey Day. But, Smokehouse was coming. She pulled away for a 3 1/4 length victory. In Her Hey Day fought back to get the place spot. Point Gammon was around mid-pack early, was forced wide, and tired late, finishing 7th. Watch the Replay.
