News and Notes

As expected, Gavilan (Rockport Harbor - Christmas Party by Wild Again) was scratched from race 1 at Arlington Park, and will run instead on Saturday, August 14. Also scratched was Garden Tour (Bluegrass Cat - Winter Garden by Roy) from race 4 at Calder. The winner of that one was Roy's Girls (Pomeroy - Justforthegirls by Slew Gin Fizz), who is the 10th winner for Pomeroy. Watch the Replay.

Two-Year-Old Results

Treasury Devil (colt; Bernardini - Crystal Music by Nureyev) was off well and tracked the early pace in his 7 furlong Maiden race at Newbury. He hit the front with a couple of furlongs to go, and for a moment looked as though he would be caught, but found more to get the victory over General Synod (GB) (Invincible Spirit (IRE) - New Assembly (IRE) by Machiavellian). Watch the Replay. View Race Details.

The Future is Now

There were no scratches. Bear's Future (Rockport Harbor - Prairie Pie by Belong to Me) was the early favorite, but Colleton Gardens (Unbridled's Song - Appleby Gardens by A. P. Indy) was the choice at post time. Bluegrass Dreamer (Bluegrass Cat - Spring Flight by Miswaki) was 9-2, and Sebago Bay (Rockport Harbor - Legit by Seattle Slew) was almost 6-1. Colleton Gardens made a favorable impression, and Bear's Future looked ready. Bluegrass Dreamer was on his toes, and Sebago Bay looked relaxed. Get There (Dixie Union - Get Set by Rahy) got a nice warm-up. The load was fairly smooth. There was a bit of a scramble up front, with Colleton Gardens getting to the lead from the outside. But, Bear's Future came up the rail to grab the lead from him. Sebago Bay was in a good position, and made up some ground on the outside. Bear's Future began to pour it on in the stretch, romping by 5 3/4 lengths to become the third winner for Rockport Harbor. Sebago Bay ended up 4th, and Bluegrass Dreamer was a non-threatening 5th. A Smooth Win for Rough'n Royal

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Favoritism bounced around a bit. Philourpockets (Act of Duty - Dreamadreamforme by Sword Dance (IRE)) and Longer Terms Doug (Rockport Harbor - Willa Joe (IRE) by El Gran Senor) both took a turn, but Rough'n Royal (Pomeroy - Good Heavens by Holy Bull) was favored at post time. Ribo Bobo (Louis Quatorze - Private Prom Party by Private Terms) went to the post sans pony. Philourpockets looked good on the track. Longer Terms Doug broke well, but Rough'n Royal went to the lead. He was soon clear lengths in front. Longer Terms Doug chased for awhile in second, but wasn't able to keep up. Rough'n Royal pulled farther and farther away in the stretch, crossing the line 13 3/4 lengths in front. There was quite a battle for the minor awards, Philourpockets was a neck in front of The Waco Kid (Mass Media - Trick by Phone Trick), who was a neck better than Ribo Bobo. Longer Terms Doug weakened to 6th. Rough'n Royal was winner number 9 for Pomeroy, who added winner number 10 in race 4 at Calder. Watch the Replay.

It's All About Ruby

The only scratch was AE Down On Copperline (Mutakddim - Viewy by Majestic Light), as 10 ran on the fast track. What About Ruby (Silver Deputy - Emerald Rain by Johannesburg) was favored. Jamin Justice (Rockport Harbor - Kiwi Sunshine by Java Gold) took some early money, but was 7-1 at post time. He looked good in the post parade, but Officially (Officer - Shepherd's Moon by Silver Hawk) looked better. Also catching my eye was Loredana (Gibson County - Harem Queen by Turkoman). Jamin Justice had a lot of pep on the track, maybe a little too much pep. The start was decent, Princess Gone Wild (Wild Zone - Windsor Princess (IRE) by Woods of Windsor) went for the lead, but What About Ruby emerged with it. Loredana and Officially took up the chase in second and third. Also up close was Charming Carolyn (Posse - Place in Time by Out of Place). What About Ruby drew off in the stretch, getting the win by 8 3/4 lengths. Officially moved into second, but she was no match for What About Ruby. Jamin Justice didn't have much punch, finishing 6th. Three-Year-Old Stakes Result

Krypton (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Freedom Reigns by Unbridled's Song) took the lead in the stretch of the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (gr. II), but Interactif was coming. It looked like Interactif would run right by him, but Krypton didn't give in. Then, Grand Rapport came by to join the fray. Interactif took the win by a nose over Grand Rapport, who was a head better than Krypton. Watch the Replay. Read more about the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes here.

Two-Year-Old Entries

We have 10 horses running in 8 races on August 14, which is more than I can preview, and probably more than you want to read. So, I have previewed four of the races below and given entry notes for the others. It may also be a bit of a challenge to tweet all of the races, but I'll give it a try.
