Quenching a Thirst

Quenching a Thirst

Rock Hard Nicky (Rock Hard Ten - Ioya Forever by Louis Quatorze) and Derivative (Mr. Greeley - Erica's Smile by Williamstown) were scratched, and the track was fast. Stay Thirsty (Bernardini - Marozia by Storm Bird) took most of the money, going off at less than even money. Eltheeb (Bernardini - El Raabi by Fusaichi Pegasus) was 16-1. Stay Thirsty was frisky in the paddock. Washington's Rules (Roman Ruler - Petite Charme by Silver Charm) caught my eye and I liked the look of Eltheeb. However, Eltheeb balked at the load. Orsonian (Officer - Miss Speed by Forty Niner) was restless in the gate waiting for Eltheeb. The start was decent, and Stay Thirsty headed for the lead. Fair Whit (Birdstone - Slew Smarts by Seattle Slew) stuck with Stay Thirsty for awhile, but Stay Thirsty pulled away in the stretch, and won by more than 5. Washington's Rules made a good run to take second, and Fair Whit held third. Eltheeb was green and raced wide, finishing 7th. He did finish 5 lengths in front of the $2.3 million 2-year-old Brock (Distorted Humor - Tomisue's Delight by A. P. Indy). Watch the Replay.

Getting an A at Report Card Time

The turf was firm. Aintnoflysonme (Limehouse - Cheerily (IRE) by Danehill Dancer (IRE)) was scratched, allowing Favrini (Exchange Rate - Che Sara Sara by Golden Act) to run. The other AEs had to stay in the barn. Report Card Time (Kafwain - Ascot Gold by Mutakddim) took the early money, but Cher Dini (Bernardini - Rare Opportunity by Danzig Connection) was favored at post time. Most Unusual (Aragorn (IRE) - Forever and Always by Fusaichi Pegasus) made a good impression in the paddock, Jadran (Artie Schiller - Hard as Nails by Holy Bull) was a little rambunctious. Favrini had some spring in his step. The loading was pretty smooth, despite the presence of eight first-timers. Report Card Time outbroke the field, and took the lead. Occasional View (Silver Deputy - Celebrate by Rahy) was also up close, with Cher Dini getting involved 3-wide. Report Card Time continued to lead, with Occasional View chasing. Occasional View gained ground on Report Cart Time, but he spurted away again in the stretch, and won by 5 1/4 lengths. Most Unusual came on late to grab second from Occasional View. Cher Dini tired, and ended up 10th (last).Watch the Replay.

It's More Than Real

The turf was firm. Timuquana (Smart Strike - Midway Squall by Storm Bird) was scratched, allowing AE Steal the Dance (Tapit - Purloin by Forest Wildcat) to run. The other AEs and the MTOs were scratched. Sunlight Sonata (Unbridled's Song - Storm Away by Storm Cat) was the slight favorite, Henny's Hurricane (Henny Hughes - Amarillo by Crafty Prospector) was 40-1. Dynamic Holiday (Harlan's Holiday - Dynamic Cat by Dynaformer) made a favorable impression, War Clan (War Front - Ashley's Clan by Seattle Slew) looked good on the track. Sunlight Sonata went to the front, with Steal the Dance and More Than Real (More Than Ready - Miss Seffens by Dehere) close up. Henny's Hurricane broke ok, but immediately dropped back. The pace was pretty slow, and Sunlight Sonata continuing to lead. More Than Real made her move in the stretch, and pulled away for a nice victory. Dynamic Holiday finished well to take second, and War Clan was a decent third, despite being rank early. Henny's Hurricane was never much involved and finished 9th. Watch the Replay.

Packing a Tensas Punch

There were no scratches. Tensas Punch (War Front - Indy Punch by Pulling Punches) took most of the money at the windows, Pontine (Bluegrass Cat - Palmarola (ARG) by Kitwood) was 16-1. Dixiepixicat (Forest Wildcat - Dixie Probe by Dixieland Band) looked good in the post parade, but she got off to a slow start. There was a scramble up front, Frazier's Finest (Formal Dinner - Pink Forest by Green Forest), Tensas Punch, Pontine, Elegant Angela (Indian Ocean - I'm Angela by Kayrawan), and Tour for Love (Express Tour - Clever Me by Not For Love) were all involved. Pontine began to weaken after a half. Frazier's Finest and Tensas Punch dueled for a time, but Tensas Punch pulled free in the stretch to get the win by 3 3/4 lengths. Making up a lot of ground late after her slow start was Dixiepixicat, who took second. Pontine tired to 7th. Tensas Punch is winner number 4 for War Front. Watch the Replay.

Other Two-Year-Old Results

Bellamy Jones (colt; Bellamy Road - Kind Lena by Seneca Jones) broke well and was in third early in his Maiden Special Weight at Hoosier Park. He moved up to press the early pacesetter, Brother Jerry. In the stretch, he pulled free from that rival. Ellenberger Park was gaining late, but Bellamy Jones had enough left to hold him off and get the victory. He is winner number 5 for Bellamy Road. Watch the Replay.

The track was sloppy at Assiniboia Downs for Blue 'Em Away (colt; Bluegrass Cat - Alcina by Kingmambo). Favorite Three Mile Tough went to the lead, but Blue 'Em Away went right with him. They continued 1-2 into the stretch, when Blue 'Em Away wore down Three Mile Tough and pulled away for a 2 length victory. Blue 'Em Away is the 12th winner for Bluegrass Cat.

Nice Stakes at Saratoga, ....I was hoping #7 Coax Liberty would get up in the money, saw him at DP and remember...well I used him in my trifecta and superfecta and won !

He got on the rail, and although was no match for the top two (choices as well) he beat the rest.....Don

As a fan of Bernardini, I think Stay Thirsty's next start should be in a stakes race ! He really showed his true colors in his runaway maiden win at The Spa ! He is in good hands with Todd Pletcher so , we'll be seeing more of Stay Thirsty !
