Aldomear Takes the Tour

The track was fast. Papa Ralla (Hold That Tiger - Deer Valley Girl by Rahy) was scratched, leaving a field of 7. Chon (Burning Roma - Cho Chang by Unaccounted For) was favored, but Imperial Czar (Imperialism - Evil Eyed Czarina by Carson City) took plenty of action as well. Garden Tour (Bluegrass Cat - Winter Garden by Roy) was 9-1. He had some spring in his step in the paddock. Chon looked good on the track, and debuter Raging Six (Don Six - Raging Glory by Lil's Lad) caught my eye. He was cold on the tote board, however, at 25-1. Midnight Madness (Burning Roma - Proud Royale by Proud Birdie) broke on top, but he was soon passed on the inside by Theslayerinthelane (Peace Rules - Moonshine Girl by Shadeed). Garden Tour stumbled after the start and trailed. Theslayerinthelane and Midnight Madness continued to battle up front, but Aldomear (Act of Duty - Lerma by Unbridled) made a move to take command. He had a host of pursuers, but found more for a 3 1/4 length victory. Imperial Czar and Raging Six were separated by a half length for second and third. Garden Tour didn't do much running after his stumble, but he did pass the early pacesetters Theslayerinthelane and Midnight Madness to finish 5th. Watch the Replay.

Running Tap Running Home

The track was fast, and Emcee (Unbridled's Song - Surf Club by Ocean Crest) and Joe Vann (Silver Deputy - Polish Flower by Danzig) were scratched. Justin Phillip (First Samurai - Ava Knowsthecode by Cryptoclearance), entrymate of Joe Vann, was favored. Major Duomo (Bernardini - Karis Makaw by Charismatic) was almost 5-1, down from his morning line of 15-1. He made a decent impression in the paddock. It's Truly Ahvee (Yes It's True - Vision Quest by Seeking the Gold) looked good as they headed to the track. Cherryzapper (Ghostzapper - Irish Cherry by Irish Open) acted up a bit at the load, and Running Tap (Tapit - Wild Flo by Wild Again) showed some reluctance at the gate. It's Truly Ahvee was unsettled in the gate, and broke slowly, spotting the field several lengths. Also having some trouble at the start was Rock Hard Nicky (Rock Hard Ten - Ioya Forever by Louis Quatorze), who lost his footing. Taking the lead was favorite Justin Phillip, with Banned (Kitten's Joy - Cardinalli by Capote) in pursuit. Running Tap was watching these two in third, and Major Duomo was in a good position in fourth. Running Tap made a move on the outside, and hit the lead. He pulled away for a 2 1/2 length win. Justin Phillip held second, and It's Truly Ahvee and Rock Hard Nicky were noses apart in third and fourth. Major Duomo retreated and finished 7th (last). Interestingly, the two with experience (Major Duomo and Cherryzapper) finished last and second-to-last. Watch the Replay.
