Getting the Street Prize

The field of 7 was intact with no scratches. First-timer Mystery Prize (Pure Prize - Mystical Kingdom by Silver Hawk) was favored. Also getting play was Street Prize (Street Cry (IRE) - Prized Stamp by Prized), 6th in her only start. This Time (Henny Hughes - Switch Lanes by Deerhound) was 7-1, but she made a good impression leaving the paddock. Forest Red (Forestry - A. P. Petal by A. P. Indy) was a little jumpy on the track. This Time broke on top, but Street Prize grabbed the lead. This Time assumed a pressing position. Off slowly were Forest Red and Slamming (Grand Slam - Lunargal by Yes It's True). Street Prize and This Time continued 1-2, but Mystery Prize made a move on the outside. She took second, as This Time began to weaken. However, Mystery Prize could not catch Street Prize, who won by 1 1/2 lengths. Mystery Prize was another 5 in front of the rest of them. Pleasantfriday (Pleasant Tap - Ruby Friday by Distinctive Pro) and Karlie's Holiday (Harlan's Holiday - Salome Slew by Seattle Slew) finished together. Tourmaline Tackles a Tempest

The weather was nasty at Calder, raining, and the track was sloppy. But, only Fan of David (Mr. Livingston - Bourn by Lear Fan) was scratched. This allowed AE entrant Sir Charlie (Bwana Charlie - See U at My Window by Piccolino) to run, and he was favored at post time. The buzz horse was first-timer Willie's Way (Speightstown - Willie's Luv by Williamstown), who opened as the favorite, and went off at 4-1. He was 10-1 on the morning line. Garden Tour (Bluegrass Cat - Winter Garden by Roy) was 5-1. Debuter Meatball (Mizzen Mast - Royal Risk by Royal Roberto) was kicking up his heels in the post parade, Garden Tour skipped over the slop. Lizard's Repent (Repent - Lizard Lick by Way West (FR)) broke best, but couldn't clear from his outside post. Instead, Garden Tour and Reprized Halo (Halo's Image - Reprized Angel by Reprized) dueled for supremacy. Reprized Halo put his head in front on the turn, and then spurted away. Wireless Macho (Macho Uno - Storm Music by Future Storm) made a run, getting to Reprized Halo. But moving best of all was Enable (A. P. Warrior - Flicker by Polish Navy), who came from last and put them all away. Reprized Halo held off Wireless Macho for second, and Garden Tour tired to 7th. Enable is winner number three for A. P. Warrior. Watch the Replay.
