2-Year-Old Results

Treasury Devil (colt; Bernardini - Crystal Music by Nureyev) tracked the early leaders in his contest at Sandown, then took control for an easy victory over Godolphin's Introvert (IRE) (Iffraaj (GB) - Isana (JPN) by Sunday Silence). Trained by John Gosden and ridden by William Buick, Lord Lloyd-Webber's Treasury Devil is now 2 for 2 in his young career, with earnings of $15,324. I am not sure what he beat in this 5 horse field, especially as the third and fifth-place finishers are maidens (the 5th-place horse was making his debut). But, he looked good doing it. In the Zone

The track was fast. Bouquet Booth (Flower Alley - Toll Order by Loup Sauvage), part of an entry with Three Bertie (Forest Danger - Thunder Bertie by Thunder Gulch), was scratched. Also out were the AEs Miss Dixie Halo (Dixieland Band - Miss City Halo by Carson City) and Silent Spin (Johannesburg - Silencieuse by Kingmambo). Elite Humor (Distorted Humor - Renaissance Lady by A. P. Indy) was the early favorite, but she was tad above Lady in the Zone (Dehere - Aunt Ginger by Fred Astaire) at post time. Hoosier Kitten (Bluegrass Cat - Brooklynsangel by Aggressive Chief) took a little early play, but went off at 9-1. She made a decent appearance. I liked the look of Reputa the Beautah (Pomeroy - Choose the Right by Real Quiet). Elite Humor went right to the front, but Lady in the Zone was with her. They went pretty quick up there, :21.40, :45.00. Reputa the Beautah watched this duel in third. Girlish Figure (Strong Hope - Innovate by Relaunch) seemed like she might mount a challenge, but it was a false impression. Elite Humor and Lady in the Zone continued to fight it out to the end, with Lady in the Zone getting her neck in front for the victory. Reputa the Beautah was the best of the rest by more than 6. There was very little change in position in this one, no one was making up any ground. Hoosier Kitten started out in 9th (last) and made up one spot to finish 8th. Watch the Replay.

Sky Maggy on the Grass

The turf was firm. Summer in Giza (Great Pyramid (IRE) - Summer Dance by Sword Dance (IRE)) and Terra Cotta Moon (Malibu Moon - Terra Maria by Citidancer) were scratched, as well as MTO entrant Bri's Vision (Pollard's Vision - Breezy Bri by Valley Crossing). Sky Maggy (Sky Mesa - Mighty Mags by Wild Again) was 3-5 at the first tick of the tote, but Cap'n Raymond (Artie Schiller - Flying Kitty by Lord Carson) was favored at the start. Alta Boy (Bluegrass Cat - Alta Love by Gone West) was getting no respect at 60-1. Sky Maggy looked the part of the favorite in the paddock. Black Acre (West Acre - Royal Dove by Dove Hunt) was getting a tad wild. I liked the look of debuting New Revolution (Mingun - Missy Dear by Deerhound). Korean-bred Powerful Korea (KOR) (Distilled - Bound To Score (AUS) by Quick Score (AUS)), who went off at 102-1, was reluctant to load for his debut. The start was decent, Doctor Nail (Mingun - Miss Lady Luck by King of Kings (IRE)) hopped and trailed, while Sky Maggy set the pace. Roman's Touch (Roman Ruler - Harriet's Touch by Touch Gold), Black Acre, and Cap'n Raymond were in pursuit. Alta Boy was with the second pack. Sky Maggy spurted away from the rest, opening up by several lengths. Roman's Touch continued the chase, but he couldn't catch Sky Maggy, who won by 5. Cap 'n Raymond pulled away from Black Acre for the third spot. Pretty much the only horse making up ground was New Revolution, he might be one to bet next time. Alta Boy finished 8th.
