Two-Year-Old Result

A Gallant Victory

There were no scratches in the 7 horse race, and the track was fast. Opening Move (Bernardini - Show Me the Roses by Storm Cat) opened up at 1-9 on the tote board, and didn't move much from there. Gallant Dreams (Bernardini - Dreams Gallore by Silver Ghost) went off at 14-1. Gallant Dreams looked good on the track, but so did Opening Move. I was also kind of liking Sinorice (Hold That Tiger - Back to Capetown by Cape Town). Opening Move was a little stubborn at the load. At the break, he stumbled badly, and fell, losing his rider. He did pop back up, as did Alan Garcia, and they appeared unhurt. However, with the big favorite out and likely pacesetter out, the whole race changed. Casanova Giant (Giant's Causeway - Marital Spook by Silver Ghost) set the early pace, and Caneros (Distorted Humor - Kalookan Queen by Lost Code) and Gallant Moves were chasing. Caneros began to move closer to Casanova Giant. Gallant Dreams seemed to back off a bit, but then came running. He drove by the competition, and powered away for a 3 1/2 length victory. He is winner number eight for Bernardini. Watch the Replay.
