Stakes Result

Hysterical Cat (Bluegrass Cat - Then She Laughs by Distorted Humor) finished 8th in the Sleepy Hollow Stakes, after stumbling at the start and being part of the pace early. The winner was Bandbox (Tapit - Empty the Bases by Grand Slam). Watch the Replay.

An Animal is King

All twelve ran. Animal Kingdom (Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) - Dalicia (GER) by Acatenango (GER)) was favored at less than even money. Statehood (Bluegrass Cat - Heavenly Humor by Distorted Humor) was 13-1. Leftylenythelegend (Flower Alley - Regal Pennant by Banner Bob) was 21-1. Statehood got a strong warm-up. Bonaroo (Dynaformer - Hard to Copy by Mr. Prospector) caught my eye. He took the early lead, with Animal Kingdom in pursuit. Signature Event (Awesome Again - Calico Flower by Bertrando) was up close as well. Statehood was around mid-pack. Bonaroo and Animal Kingdom continued 1-2 into the stretch, but Animal Kingdom made his move and went to the front. He pulled away to win by 3 1/4 lengths. Bonaroo held second over Grind (Thunder Gulch - Caprice Miss by Golden Missile), who was making up good ground late. Private Prize (Pure Prize - Private Funds by Private Terms) was also running well at the end, taking fourth. Statehood made a little move, but flattened out and finished 7th. Leftylenythelegend finished 10th. Watch the Replay.

Parsing a Win

There were no scratches in the 12 horse race. Daylasoul (Perfect Soul (IRE) - Miss What a Day by Miswaki) took the early money, but Parse (Dehere - Pantufla by Rubiano) was the slight choice at post time. She caught my eye early on. Broadway Tune (Bluegrass Cat - Sung in Tune by Unbridled's Song) looked like she might need a race. There was a bit of a tussle for the early lead. Southern Minx (Lion Heart - Southern Lass by Southern Halo) and My Shepherd Girls (Artie Schiller - Norma's Legacy by Red Ransom) were battling, with Daylasoul just off of them. Broadway Tune was at the back. My Shepherd Girls took a slight lead, as Maude S (Jump Start - Tropical Gardens by Thunder Gulch) entered the mix. Motoring on the outside was Parse, who went be everyone for a nice victory. My Shepherd Girls was a neck better than Maude S, and Cat in the Bag (Tale of the Cat - Adam's Time by Gilded Time) was a closing fourth. Broadway Tune never really got involved, finishing 11th. Watch the Replay.
