No Holding the Real Mayo

There were no scratches, as all seven ran over the fast track. The Real Mayo (Bernardini - Mayo On the Side by French Deputy), the only debuter in the field, was the heavy favorite. Irish Legacy (Bellamy Road - Atherbest by Silver Hawk), who had run just 9 days previously, was 13-1. Skip the Sermon (Sunday Break (JPN) - It's Time to Fly by Valley Crossing) had some energy as they headed to the track. The Real Mayo made a favorable impression. Born to Disco (Littleexpectations - Guard Dance by Fools Dance) went to the lead from her rail spot. But, Ravin Lunatic (Bring the Heat - Lonestar Girl by Houston) went right after her. They separated themselves from third-place Beryl's Way (Mo Mon - Waytooeasy by Will's Way) by several lengths. The Real Mayo and Irish Legacy were at the back. Miss Congrats (Congrats - Wicklow Royalty by Simply Majestic) and The Real Mayo both began to move after a half. Miss Congrats put her head in front for a time, but The Real Mayo and Born to Disco were right there. The Real Mayo pulled away from the others to score a 3 3/4 length victory while under steady urging. Born to Disco held second, 7 lengths in front of Miss Congrats, who was another 7 lengths clear of Skip the Sermon. Irish Legacy ran last the whole way round. Nine days might have been too quick of a turn around. The Real Mayo is winner number eleven for Bernardini. Watch the Replay.
