News and Notes

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope that you are spending the day not working, which hints at what I will be doing.

The winner was Sleeping Tiger (Lite the Fuse - Urban Sprawl by Concern), with entrymate Cherokee Carl (Cherokee's Boy - Straddle by Shelter Half) second, and Corvino (Dance With Ravens - El's Red Cat by Forest Wildcat) third. Lady's Lunar Luck Rocks the Turf

The turf was firm. My Unbridled Storm (Unbridled Energy - Rahy Come Home by Rahy) was scratched, which allowed AE Proficient Miss (Raffie's Majesty - Emisaria (IRE) by Seattle Dancer) to run. The other AEs and the MTOs were out. Stray Bullet (Aldebaran - Strike Eagle by El Prado (IRE)) was the early favorite, but Rock N Cozy (Rockport Harbor - Sari by Cozzene) was the slight choice at post time. She was a little feisty as she was saddled. Stray Bullet made a good appearance in the paddock. Rock N Cozy is hard to miss on the track, she is that white gray color of her broodmare sire Cozzene. They loaded fairly quickly, as most of the fillies were on their best behavior. Rock N Cozy did get a little restless. She was backed out and her rider hopped off. But, they were soon ready again. She went right to the front from her rail spot and soon built up a several length lead. She's My Image (Southern Image - Peakforthecash by Lord Avie) and Lady's Lunar Luck (Freud - Watrals Lady Hanne by Dixie Brass) were chasing in second and third. Rock N Cozy continued to lead into the stretch, but the lead was diminishing. Sarah's Pleasure (Street Cry (IRE) - Bubbling Heights (FR) by Darshaan (GB)) and Proficient Miss both made runs, but it was Lady's Lunar Luck who was moving best. She swept by Rock N Cozy, and kept going, winning by 5 lengths. Rock N Cozy was more than 5 in front of Proficient Miss, who was the best of the rest. Rock N Cozy has now run twice and finished second twice, once sprinting on the dirt and once going long on the turf. She's nothing if not versatile. Watch the Replay.

Triune Wears Out Red

Only the AEs and the MTOs were out, leaving 10 to run on the firm turf. Triune (E Dubai - Triple Act by Theatrical (IRE)) was the heavy favorite. Wear Red (Henny Hughes - Aldebaran Light by Seattle Slew) was second choice at 8-1. Gift List (Bernardini - Private Gift by Unbridled) was almost 10-1, and Night Drive (Bernardini - Belle Nuit by Dr. Carter) was 12-1. Wear Red, who was adding blinkers, looked good as they headed to the track. Night Drive made a favorable first impression, and My Redbyrd (Royal Academy - Polar Bird (IRE) by Thatching (IRE)) caught my eye. However, it was hard to fault the favorite on looks. My Redbyrd was a tad reluctant to load. The start was good, but Gift List stumbled after the start, and Night Drive was steadied. Portside (Congrats - Port Isabel by Time to Explode) went to the front, pressed by Triune. Wear Red and Houliana (More Than Ready - York Woods by Mining) were together behind the leading pair. Wear Red started moving as Triune made the lead. Coming from off the pace were Noble Charlotte (Include - Relaxing Green by Formal Gold) and My Redbyrd. Triune outfinished Noble Charlotte to get the win. My Redbyrd held third, and Wear Red won the photo for fourth from Portside. Although she weakened late, it was a much improved effort for Wear Red. Gift List made up some ground on the rail after her stumble, but had to steady and ended up 8th. Night Drive trailed the field throughout. She was full of energy after the race, and it may be that she didn't quite understand what was expected. Hopefully, she'll figure it out next time. Watch the Replay.
