November 26 Results

A Shoe-In

There were no scratches, as 9 ran on a track labeled good. Shoe Penny (Henny Hughes - Unbridled Glory by Unbridled) was favored. Thatagirl (Henny Hughes - Miss Bridget Jones by Peaks and Valleys) was 7-2, and Third Row Center (Rockport Harbor - Retained by Star of the Crop) was 5-1. Third Row Center looked good on the track. I kind of liked the look of Blumen Alley (Flower Alley - Wittenberg by Relaunch). Beautifulnightmare (Devil His Due - Hey Ghaz by Ghazi) got a nice warmup. Thatagirl was acting up a bit as they approached the gate. Resoundingly (Stormy Atlantic - Fleet Wahine by Afleet) was a little reluctant to load. Shoe Penny went right to the front. Blumen Alley and Beautifulnightmare were the early chasers. Third Row Center was around mid-pack early, and Thatagirl stumbled badly at the break and was near the back. Shoe Penny continued to lead, with Beautifulnightmare and Gretl (Storm and a Half - Alpine Spring by Coronado's Quest) in pursuit. But, Third Row Center and Thatagirl were both moving. Shoe Penny pulled away to win by three lengths. Third Row Center picked up second, and Thatagirl completed the Maiden Watch trifecta. Hopefully, I wasn't the only one that had it. Shoe Penny is winner number 14 for Henny Hughes. Watch the Replay.

Joe is Ready for His Close-up

The track was sloppy, and the weather was miserable. Ecpreciousmoment (Afternoon Deelites - Fabulous Fabled by I'ma Hell Raiser) was scratched, leaving a field of 5. Joe Hollywood (Congrats - A True Star by Yes It's True) was the heavy favorite, Alec Thomas (Bellamy Road - Trip South by Trippi) was 7-1. He made a good impression, but the favorite looked good as well. He didn't seem to mind the slop. The break was even, but Joe Hollywood was soon on the lead with Alec Thomas in pursuit and Champagne Prayer (Songandaprayer - Champagne Ending by Precise End) in third. Joe Hollywood and Alec Thomas continued 1-2 into the stretch, with Blackngoldsuprbowl (Chapel Royal - Follow the Lite by Lite the Fuse) moving into third. Joe Hollywood cruised to a 1 1/14 length victory over Alec Thomas. Fleetwing (Include - Capote's Katarina by Capote) overtook Blackngoldsuprbowl late to take the show spot. Joe Hollywood is winner number 23 for current leading freshman sire Congrats. Watch the Replay.

The E. Z. Path

There were no scratches, and 9 ran on the fast track. All for Peace (Peace Rules - For Granted by Affirmed) was favored, Alta Boy (Bluegrass Cat - Alta Love by Gone West) was 9-1. First-timer Guygiddyup (Action This Day - Tis Me by Notebook) looked good on the track. Alta Boy went after the early lead along with Tomorrow's Tale (Petionville - Look to Heaven by Storm Boot) and All for Peace. These three continued to battle, but E. Z. Path (Tapit - Mississippi Madam by Smoke Glacken) and Kodiak Song (Domestic Dispute - The Best Sister by Salem Drive) were moving. E. Z. Path swept to the lead, and pulled away for the win. Kodiak Song was going well late, even though he was on his wrong lead, and secured second. Alta Boy hung around for third. Watch the Replay.

Why Not Deputy Why

The track was fast, and the only scratch was AE Ordinary Time (Time Bandit - Quest Mount by Conveyor). Langaleer (Langfuhr - Waverly Bell by Idadel) took the early money, but Deputy Why (Whywhywhy - Northern Deputy by Deputy Commander) was favored when they broke. Henny Hall (Henny Hughes - Golden Marlin by Marlin) was 11-1. Viva Gato (Hold That Tiger - Viva La France by Thunder Gulch) had some spirit in the paddock. Country Lake (Friends Lake - Y Country by Quiet American) made a good impression. Henny Hall looked good on the track. Deputy Why and Who Made the Cake (Bull Market - Alittlebirdtoldme by State Performer) dueled early, with Viva Gato not far back. Viva Gato moved to the lead, but Deputy Why was still there. Henny Hall wasn't far off in 6th. Deputy Why and Viva Gato continued to battle, separating themselves from the others. Deputy Why pulled free for the victory over Viva Gato, who was well clear of third-place Bandit Eyes (Bandini - Eyeofthestorm by Summer Squall). Henny Halll tired and finished 12th. No Stopping Missjeanlouise

There were no scratches, as all 12 ran on the fast track. Little Frances (Eddington - Too Many Holes by Touch Gold) was favored, A J's Dream (Rockport Harbor - Blackstone Clock by Private Terms) was 36-1. I liked the look of Luna Van Mar (Van Nistelrooy - Marrustan by Temperance Hill) and Our Lady in Red (Pioneering - Apical by Belong to Me) on the track. A J's Dream made a decent impression warming up. It was a good start, apart from Calico Country (Wando - Plus Beau by Beau Genius), who was off slowly. Twin Power (Rahy - Twin Set (GER) by Second Set (IRE)) and Lady Rocket (Cape Canaveral - Lady Xena by Lord At War (ARG)) fought for the lead, Missjeanlouise (Victory Gallop - Allurable by Regal Classic) was up close as well. A J's Dream dropped to the back. Our Lady in Red began to move along with Little Frances. Missjeanlouise hit the front, as Twin Power and Lady Rocket began to retreat. She secured the win over Little Frances and Our Lady in Red. A J's Dream never really got going, finishing 12th (last). Watch the Replay.
