January 9 Results

Stakes Result

May Day Rose (filly; Rockport Harbor - May Day Bluff by Pine Bluff) and Bluegrass Chatter (filly; Bluegrass Cat - Chatter Chatter by Lost Soldier) finished first and second in the Santa Ysabel Stakes (gr. III) at Santa Anita. But with two scratches in the race, only three ran. May Day Rose was in control from the beginning, and Bluegrass Chatter closed some to take second from Scarlet Starlet (Congrats - Red Hot Star by Tabasco Cat). May Day Rose did what she was supposed to do, but hard to get too excited about defeating two horses. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Santa Ysabel Stakes here.

Maiden Results

Diannedoesthewin

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Seattle Louie (Chief Seattle - Royal Prairie by Louis Quatorze) was favored. Also getting some play was first-timer Diannedoesthebooks (Desert Warrior - Karakorum Kiss by Lord Carson). Appian Way (Bellamy Road - Roman Jet by Roman Diplomat) was 7-1. Hold That Memory (Werblin - Seductively Smooth by Cape Canaveral) went to the lead, and separated himself from the others. He held that lead into the stretch, but Diannedoesthebooks was beginning to get closer. Hold That Memory gave little resistance as Diannedoesthebooks went by. Diannedoesthebooks continued on for a 1 1/2 length victory, and Seattle Louie got by Hold That Memory to take the second spot. Appian Way got involved on the turn, but couldn't keep it up, and finished fifth. Watch the Replay.
