The Wind of Victory

Phil's Boy (Swain (IRE) - Sassy April by Blare of Trumpets), part of the entry with Harry Canary (Black Tie Affair (IRE) - Spectaculaity by Spectacular Bid), was scratched. Drifting Wind (Saarland - Windrifter by Houston) was favored. Rocky Bear (Rockport Harbor - Mama Bear by Forestry) was 7-2, and Rob's Rock (Rockport Harbor - Nuvem by Dynaformer) was 11-1. There was no pony for Harry Canary, who was a little wild in the post parade. Rocky Bear was looking good, he got a pat from Greta Kuntzweiler. Favorite Drifting Wind looked ready for action. Rob's Rock acted up a bit at the load. Rocky Bear was left at the start, and Drifting Wind stumbled. Richwood Speedster (El Corredor - Illuminance by Dehere) and Slew City Boy (Slew City Slew - Charlie My Boy by Gold Tribute) dueled early. Rob's Rock chased the top pair. Drifting Wind began to gain in the stretch, and swept on by for a nice-looking 2 length win. Rob's Rock stayed involved, and stuck his neck out for second. Barry Dale (Flower Alley - Tomorrows Empress by Tomorrows Cat) grabbed third late. Rocky Bear finished 7th, but he was motoring late after his delayed start and looked good on the gallop out. A Touched Win

Flowerming (Bellamy Road - Red Sonnet by Red Ransom) was favored. Sarah's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Mambo With G by Old Trieste) was kicking up her heels on the track. Touch Screen (Bandini - Hot Touch by Touch Gold) made a good impression. Flowerming looked decent. Waco Lass (Unbridled Energy - Sparkle Colony by Pleasant Colony) was a little reluctant to load. Try Wild Luv Again (Yonaguska - Nafeesa by Wild Rush) was squeezed at the start, and trailed. Touch Screen went to the front, but Flowerming was right there too. She took the lead after a slow opening quarter. Those two continued 1-2 for a time, but coming out of the turn several got involved. Waco Lass came through on the inside to take a short lead, and Sarah's Kitten was menacing on the outside. However, Flowerming and Touch Screen pulled away again from the rest once more. At the wire, it was Touch Screen going best, for a 1/2 victory over Flowerming. Sarah's Kitten, who was wide throughout, was three behind the top pair in third. Watch the Replay.

Ari C Makes It Be

The turf was firm. Maple Leaf Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Time to Indulge by E Dubai) was scratched, allowing AE entrant Correct Response (Vindication - Search Party by Seeking the Gold) to run. Casino Host (Dynaformer - Ensenada by Seeking the Gold) was favored at close to even money. Uncle Carm (Bluegrass Cat - Lady Cruella by Capote) was dismissed at 38-1. First-timer Ari C (Stormy Atlantic - Mia Donna by A. P. Indy) was looking like a winner as they left the paddock. Criminal Saga (More Than Ready - My Amandari by El Prado (IRE)) went to the post sans pony, and Runyon Humor (Distorted Humor - Zonk by Farma Way) made a favorable impression. Rock Hard Nicky (Rock Hard Ten - Ioya Forever by Louis Quatorze) and Concorde Express (Concorde's Tune - Express Fashion by Private Express) went for the early lead, with Concorde Express seizing the advantage. Rock Hard Nicky and Ari C assumed chasing positions. Uncle Carm was in a good spot in fourth. Grigio (Stormy Atlantic - Underworld by Unbridled's Song) made a move to reach contention, as Ari C hit the front. Coming late was favorite Casino Host, but Ari C had enough left for the victory. Runyon Humor was running well late for third, as was Legend of Navarone (War Front - Timely Legend by Navarone), who finished 4th. Uncle Carm weakened to 8th. The owner of Legend of Navarone claimed foul against Ari C for interference at the start, but it was dismissed. In this big field, it was interesting that the only debuting horse was the winner. Icelain Diva Freezes Em

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Cocktail Girl (Hennessy - Misty Moon (BRZ) by Baronius (BRZ)), one of four experienced fillies in the 11 horse race, was favored. Cassy Sue (Bluegrass Cat - She's a Jewel by Successful Appeal) went off at 14-1, but she took some early money. Zin Sin (Kafwain - Remember the Day by Settlement Day) caught my eye in the post parade. Buymealoui (Mizzen Mast - Charitable Gift by Spend a Buck) was reluctant to load. Cassy Sue went in ok, but was left at the break. Icelain Diva (El Corredor - Lake Champlain by War Chant) took command early. Buymealoui and Cocktail Girl took after her. Icelain Diva sprinted away. Iso (Oliver's Twist - Rogue Angel by Storm of Angels) made a move to get into contention, but flattened out, and finished 6th. Cocktail Girl was the only one with a chance to catch Icelain Diva. She gave it a good try, but was 3 1/4 lengths short at the finish. It was a long way (8 lengths) back to third, which went to Buymealoui. Cassy Sue passed a couple to finish 7th. Watch the Replay.

Heron Lake was a very game winner, dueling with the heavy favorite, being headed by the 2nd place horse and coming back to win. Bernardini sure is passing on speed and guts to his offspring. I hope they don't push this guy as I think he's very talented.

I think Break up the Game is a very nice colt as well. He finished 4th off the layoff but ran well. He should love two turns.
