Nacho Saint, But a Winner

Acadian Blues (Bluegrass Cat - Dancing Gulch by Gulch) was scratched, along with Distorted Appeal (Distorted Humor - Jealous Forum by Open Forum). The track was good. Associate (Wando - Free as Tristan by Crafty Friend) was the early favorite, but most of the money shifted to grade II stakes-placed Nacho Saint (Yes It's True - Flashy by Wild Again) by post time. Iscar (Bernardini - Crimson Palace (SAF) by Elliodor (FR)) was 3-1 (down from a morning line of 6-1). He looked good in the paddock. Eltheeb (Bernardini - El Raabi by Fusaichi Pegasus) was 49-1, but the addition of blinkers offered hope of a change in fortune. Black Diablo (With Distinction - Pure Adrenalin by Saint Ballado) bobbled a bit at the start. Nacho Saint went right to the lead. Black Diablo recovered to chase him, along with Magnificent Moon (Malibu Moon - Bossi (IRE) by Sadler's Wells). Eltheeb and Iscar were in 4th and 6th early, but it was a fairly compact field. After 6 furlongs, Black Diablo threw in the towel, but Magnificent Moon continued to chase. Eltheeb and Iscar moved closer. In the stretch, Nacho Saint put distance between himself and the rest, pulling away to a 4 1/4 length victory, despite drifting out into the middle of the track. Magnificent Moon held second by a head over Associate. It was another 1/2 length back to Eltheeb, who was in front of Iscar by the same margin. Watch the Replay.

Maegans Princesses takes it in a Wild Tizzy

Chive Blossom (Unbridled's Song - Lady Nichola by A. P. Indy) was scratched, and the track was fast. Maegans Princesses (Yankee Gentleman - North East Star by Siphon (BRZ)) was the heavy favorite, Featherwing (Rockport Harbor - Tasso Run by Cherokee Run) was respected at 2-1. Debuting Recite (Johannesburg - Tell Seattle by A.P. Indy) looked good, but I thought that she might need more distance. Featherwing looked ready for action. She mixed it up early with Wild Tizzy (Tiznow - Crazy Woman Creek by Wild Rush). These two dueled for the first half, but then favorite Maegans Princesses made her move. Featherwing retreated, finishing 5th. Wild Tizzy and Maegans Princesses battled to the wire, with Maegans Princesses getting her nose in front. Recite closed nicely for third. Watch the Replay.

Jelly Cable Wiggles Through

Proud House (Proud Citizen - Open House by Deputy Minister) was the only scratch. Kitten's House (Kitten's Joy - Mortgage the House by Chester House) and Flowerming (Bellamy Road - Red Sonnet by Red Ransom) battled for favoritism, Flowerming won that one. Kitten's House made a good appearance, and 45rI kind of liked the look of Baby At the Park (Ecton Park - Allie North by Northern Baby). Kitten's House went to the front, pursued by Keiai Tokyo (Medaglia d'Oro - Keiai Sakura by Petionville). Leeland (Holy Bull - Farfell by Septieme Ciel) and Rochitta (Arch - Lady Ilsley by Trempolino) were not far off. Flowerming was sitting around mid-pack. Kitten's House continued to show the way, with Leeland moving into second. Flowerming was getting closer. Getting through on the inside was first-timer Jelly Cable (Sky Mesa - Linda Coqueta by Rubiano), who pulled away for a 2 1/4 length victory. Kitten's House was another 4 in front of Rochitta, who was well-clear of Leeland. Flowerming finished fifth, a bit of a disappointment after two straight seconds at Turfway at this same level and distance. Watch the Replay.

Don from PA/DE

I really like #4 crossbow but he will but in my opinion he will have to beat one other horse here,#1 Soverign Default who looks awesome, these two are champs regardless...should be a good race. Don

The horse that Crossbow beat, The Fed Eased, romped today by 7 lengths at Aqueduct in 1:10 and change, so this flatters Crossbow tremendously

I made trip to OTB to see Crossbow and the race played out like I thought it would. I don't think Crossbow is speed crazy - I think he can ration his speed (whether he can rate off the pace is another story) but with Sovereign Default in the race, that was out of the question. SD is fast and had the 1 whole and so neither colt could afford to let the other get away. It was a ding dong race all the way around. Both ran very well -I think they got somewhat leg weary, but that's understandable.
