Harbor Fox is Achieving Victory

The race was taken off the turf and run at a mile and 70 yards on the main track, which allowed MTOs Achieving (Bernardini - Teeming by Storm Cat) and Harbor Fox (Rockport Harbor - Cherokee Melody by Cherokee Run) to run, as well as fellow MTO Deja Blu (Seeking the Gold - Purrfectly by Storm Cat). Debuting Harbor Fox was favored, with Achieving getting plenty of respect at 2-1. Deja Blu took the early lead, pressed by Tapia (Tapit - Cheer for Slew by Slew City Slew). Harbor Fox watched this duel in third, and Achieving had a nice spot in fourth. After 6 furlongs, Deja Blu began to retreat, leaving the lead to Tapia. Harbor Fox was coming, however, and she went right on by Tapia. Achieving was also getting into gear. She overtook Tapia, and went after Harbor Fox. But, she came up a length short to that filly. Nice runs from both of our fillies in this one, Achieving should get that maiden victory soon. For the second day in a row, I don't preview a race because our horses are not in the main field. But, they draw in and win. Maybe, there is some kind of reverse jinx at work? Watch the Replay.

There were no scratches. It was raining off and on at Santa Anita, but the track remained fast. Bauble Queen (Arch - Muneefa by Storm Cat) was favored at 2-1. Beautiful Sunday (Silver Train - Viapervita (IRE) by Spectrum (IRE)) also drew plenty of attention from the bettors. Heidi Maria (Rockport Harbor - Third Street by Salt Lake) was almost 12-1. She was scratched after acting up in the gate in her first attempt, so it was nice that she was the last to load. Gonelikeahurricane (Exchange Rate - Sangue too Loud by Slew Sangue) and Tuesdays With P (Ghostzapper - Dancinandsingin by A. P. Indy) went for the lead. Holy Script (Holy Bull - Marquise Miss by Marquetry) and Transgression (Unbridled's Song - Gather the Storm by Storm Cat) were not far off. Heidi Maria was not the quickest of beginners, and then was shuffled to the back. Gonelikeahurricane was leading the way, but Tuesdays With P was keeping pace. At the end, Gonelikeahurricane pulled free for a length win. But, Tuesdays With P never stopped running. She was a length better than the next group of four. Among those four was Heidi Maria, who grabbed fourth after making a run late. A little more distance should get her into the Winner's Circle. As an aside, I love it when a horse's name writes its own headline.Watch the Replay.
