Cassy Sue Comes Through

All nine ran on the fast track. The early money was on debuting Flowersinthealley (Flower Alley - I'm a Slick Chick by Devil's Bag), but experienced Cocktail Girl (Hennessy - Misty Moon (BRZ) by Baronius (BRZ)) was favored at post time. Cassy Sue (Bluegrass Cat - She's a Jewel by Successful Appeal) was virtually ignored at close to 15-1. But, she looked good, and was adding blinkers for this race. First-timer Mythical Bride (Street Cry (IRE) - Flaming Heart by Touch Gold) was a little jumpy in the post parade. Cassy Sue was off to a good start, in contrast to her slow start first-time out. Buymealoui (Mizzen Mast - Charitable Gift by Spend a Buck) and Our Lil Brown Jug (Stormy Jack - Miss Theatrical by Theatrical (IRE)) were able to get in front of Cassy Sue early because of their inside posts, but Cassy Sue wasn't far off. Also near the front were Eyeonsilver (Silver Deputy - Ihavemyeyeonyou by Crafty Prospector) and Mythical Bride. Eyeonsilver and Cassy Sue pulled away from the others, battling into the stretch. Cassy Sue put Eyeonsilver away, but Mythical Bride came up the rail to move into second. She couldn't catch Cassy Sue, however, who won by a length. Watch the Replay.

Finding Paradise in the Winner's Circle

There were no scratches, and the Polytrack was fast as always. Finding Paradise (Taste of Paradise - Cusco (IRE) by Titus Livius (FR)), making his 7th start, was favored. He made a favorable first impression in the paddock. Rocky Bear (Rockport Harbor - Mama Bear by Forestry) was 4-1. He was adding blinkers and looked good. Debuting No Rain No Rainbow (Unbridled Energy - Snappy Little Tune by Spanish Drums) looked a little unsure in the paddock, but settled down on the track. Barry Dale (Flower Alley - Tomorrows Empress by Tomorrows Cat) warmed up nicely. Rocky Bear totally missed the break, and lost all chance. It looked like he took a hop at the start. The chart does not mention this, but his gray head is easy to spot on the replay. Setting the pace was debuting Big Albert (Albert the Great - Buckeye Belle by Lyphard's Wish (FR)). Richwood Speedster (El Corredor - Illuminance by Dehere) and Finding Paradise were in pursuit. Big Albert continued to show the way into the stretch. He appeared to be moving pretty freely out there. Barry Dale moved into the picture, and No Rain No Rainbow began making up some ground. But moving best late was Finding Paradise, who swept by Big Albert for a 1/2 length victory. Still, nice debuts for pacesetter Big Albert, who was second, and closing No Rain No Rainbow, who took third. Rocky Bear managed to pass a couple after his early adventure, finishing 8th. Throw this one out for him. Finding Paradise was one of those winners that looked even better after the race. Watch the Replay.
