Trufast is Too Cool

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Favoritism jumped around a couple of the first-timers, Caught My Heart (With Distinction - Caught Ree by Eastern Echo) and Big Happy Blur (Dixieland Band - Bejat by Mr. Prospector), before settling on veteran Dattts Cool (Bluegrass Cat - Culinary by El Amante). She had some bounce in her step on the track. How She Rolls (Dixie Union - Edge Sweep by End Sweep) hopped at the start, the others were out well. Lynnette (Johannesburg - Strategic Maneuver by Cryptoclearance), Caught My Heart, and Big Happy Blur went after the lead. Dattts Cool began to make up ground on the rail. Gaining on the outside was Trufast (Yes It's True - Starry Lake by Meadowlake). Dattts Cool took a brief lead in the stretch, but Trufast was right with her. These two battled to the wire, with Trufast getting her neck in front at the end. Lynnette was three lengths back in third. All those first-timers, but experienced horses finished 1-2. Simba's Story of Winning

No scratches in the compact 6 horse field. The track was fast. Simba's Story (Elusive Quality - Feline Story by Tale of the Cat) took most of the money, with Five Sigma Event (Five Star Day - Grand Betty by Copelan) the only other horse getting any attention. He caught my eye in the paddock. Motion to Appeal (Bellamy Road - You'll B Impressed by Valid Appeal) was almost 18 to 1, and Quick to Strike (Henny Hughes - Flapper Dancer by Fappiano) was 9-1, but he looked ready for action. Motion to Appeal got a little agitated on the track. Emily's Twist (Posse - Twist and Pop by Oliver's Twist) was off slowly at the break, Quick to Strike went to the front. Simba's Story was right with him, however, and was able to get to the lead from his rail spot. These two dueled in the early going, with Five Sigma Event looming in third. He came up to join Simba's Story, as Quick to Strike dropped back. Five Sigma Event fought to the finish, but he was never able to overtake Simba's Story, who took it by a head. Quick to Strike couldn't keep up with the top two, but he was five in front of the rest, including Motion to Appeal, who didn't show much, finishing 6th (last). Watch the Replay.
