Texas Tempest (filly; Bernardini - Copelan's Bid Gal by Copelan) finished 8th in the Island Fashion Stakes at Sunland Park. The winner was 42-1 Golden Springs (Pomeroy - Misty Springs by Wild Again) by a nose over Formal Plan (Formal Gold - Choice Plan by Game Plan). Watch the Replay.

Onda Fast Track to Victory

All 10 ran on the fast track. Onda Fast Track (Easyfromthegitgo - Onda Ray by On Target) was favored, and Bayou Road (Bellamy Road - Prissy Slippers by Smoke Glacken) was respected at 9-2. Favorite Onda Fast Track went right to the front, but was pressed by Bernice Special (Bernstein - Countryfide by Confide). Also up close was Rose Lips (Pulling Punches - Sconset Rose by Canaveral). Bayou Road was sitting mid-pack. Onda Fast Track and Bernice Special continued 1-2 into the stretch, with Onda Fast Track starting to pull away. Coming on from the back was the entry of Maid of Lightening (Mutakddim - Maid in China by B. J.'s Mark) and Destiny's Gold (Seeking the Gold - Destiny Calls by With Approval). They moved by Bernice Special to pick up second and third, but Onda Fast Track was safely home in front. Bayou Road faded a bit to finish 8th. Watch the Replay.

Spectacular Sky to Victory

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Spectacular Sky (Sky Mesa - La Princesse Jolie by Boone's Mill) was favored, and Heidi Maria (Rockport Harbor - Third Street by Salt Lake) was 7-1. Pink Lollipops (Silver Deputy - Christmas Rose by Private Terms) and Spectacular Sky dueled from the start, with Heidi Maria watching those two in third. Cactus House (Badge of Silver - Aray by Rahy) and Holy Script (Holy Bull - Marquise Miss by Marquetry) were keeping Heidi Maria company. Pink Lollipops repelled Spectacular Sky on the turn, but Spectacular Sky was not finished, and wore down her rival late. Heidi Maria was no match for the top pair, but she held off Eden Star (Eddington - Exploding Star by Exploit) to secure third. Watch the Replay.

Cybergrass (Bluegrass Cat - Promoted Deputy by Deputy Minister) and Primp (Bernardini - Runway Model by Petionville) will try again to meet, after their last try was lost to the weather. I've lost track of how many times unraced Cybergrass has been entered and then stayed in the barn because of cancellations. She has been working at Penn National, including 5 furlongs in 1:04.60 from the gate on February 19. Cybergrass is the second foal out of Promoted Deputy, who was a debut winner. Promoted Deputy's first foal, Sir Deputy, is a winner. Promoted Deputy is a full sister to one winner, and a half sister to 2 winners. Primp has run three times, finishing 6th at 5 furlongs at Mountaineer on July 11, 7th at a mile on firm turf at Ellis Park on September 6, and 12th on yielding turf at Churchill Downs on November 27. She is adding blinkers for this start. She last worked on February 4 at Fair Hill, going 5 furlongs in 1:04.00. Primp is the second foal out of grade II winner Runway Model, who earned $725,598 in her career. Her first foal, Couture Cat is a winner. Runway Model is a full sister to one winner, and a half sister to 5 winners, including stakes winner Mambo Train.

Freshcat (With Distinction - Cowgirl Lucky by Stephen Got Even) and Sophia's So Sassy (Three Wonders - Sophia Sez So by Wild Event) finished 4th and 7th in a 6 furlong race at Penn National on December 10. Freshcat has three additional starts. Her most recent start was on December 30 at Penn, when she was 7th at a mile. Freshcat was a $5,000 2-year-old, and is the first foal out of the placed mare Cowgirl Lucky. Cowgirl Lucky is a half sister to 3 winners, including stakes-placed Cherokee Path, who earned $192,612. Sophia's So Sassy has had 2 subsequent starts, finishing 3rd on December 21, and 4th on January 14. Those races were also 6 furlongs at Penn National. Sophia's So Sassy is a half sister to 2 winners, including stakes winner Proud Zoe, who has earned $234,328 through 2011. Sophia Sez So, dam of Sophia's So Sassy, is a half sister to 5 winners, including grade II winner My Cousin Matt.

Best Camper (Forest Camp - Flying Stuka by Stuka) is the veteran of the race with 10 starts. She has finished third three times, including in her most recent race, a 5.5 furlong Claiming race at Penn National on January 4. Note that that was a Claiming race versus winners. She is out of the winning mare Flying Stuka, who earned $130,320. Flying Stuka has produced the winner Whos Hot Now. Flying Stuka is a half sister to 5 winners, including grade III winner Love Avie.

Coming Up Roses (Touch Gold - Roseboom by Affirmed) has run twice, finishing 7th on October 20, and 3rd on November 27. Both starts were at 6 furlongs at Penn National. She is a half sister to the winner Cartesio. Their dam, Roseboom, is a half sister to 3 winners, including group I winner Hailsham and group III stakes-placed Royal Minister.

Ominous Sky (Sky Classic - Financial Risk by Not For Love), who is part of an entry with Coming Up Roses, was third in her only race, a 6 furlong contest at Penn National on December 20. She is the first foal out of stakes-placed Financial Risk, who earned $138,322. Financial Risk is a half sister to one winner.

He Watches Over Me (Songandaprayer - Keesler by Gilded Time) has also run once, finishing 6th in a 6.5 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Parx Racing on October 25. She brought $25,000 as a weanling, and is the first foal out of stakes winner Keesler, who earned $216,512. Keesler is a half sister to 3 winners.

Completing the field is unraced Idol's April Song (Song of the Sword - Shes Not Idol by Northern Idol), who is the first foal out of the winning mare Shes Not Idol. Shes Not Idol is a half sister to 3 winners.

Other March 1 Entry

Harbor Kid (colt; Rockport Harbor - Ten's Testamony by Deputed Testamony), who broke his maiden last time out on January 24 at 7 furlongs at Parx Racing, returns in a 6 furlong Allowance at that track. Carded as race 4, this one has a post time of 1:38 PM ET. Unlike his previous starts, this race is not restricted to PA-breds, and features two PA-breds (including Harbor Kid) and four Kentucky-breds. Harbor Kid last worked on February 11 at Parx, going 4 furlongs in :48.02. The Hard Spun grey colt (#67) is very handsome - I am just not a fan of the breeze shows. I think young horses are pushed too much in these short dashes.

Nice Photos'...My eyes will be on "Harbor Kid" at PARX in 4th race today...son of Rockport Harbor impressive so far, hope he can do it again...looks like "Tap Star" is the major danger here. Don

A BIG PS:  The weather here this morning is lovely, cool, sunny, light winds, track should be drying fast, they ran yesterday in the slop, so the management decision should be "Yes" today!@
