Drawing Up a Win

The track was sloppy, but there were no scratches. Draw It (Tapit - Illustrated by Deputy Minister) was the heavy favorite, My Other Girl (Bernardini - Guilty Pleasure by Pine Bluff) wasn't given much chance at 56-1, the longest shot on the board. There was a scramble for the early lead. La Rumba (Speightstown - Kahramana (GB) by Hernando (FR)), Grand Distraction (Artie Schiller - Deal Us In by Mister Baileys (GB)), and Cascadilla Falls (E Dubai - Cayuga's Waters by Langfuhr) were all involved, with Cascadilla Falls getting through to set the pace. They were zipping along early: :21.95, :45.09. Virtuously (Congrats - Tab a Cat by Tabasco Cat) and Royal Ancestry (Distorted Humor - Horns Gray by Pass the Tab) moved up, but Cascadilla Falls continued to lead. Making steady progress was Sanadaat (Unbridled's Song - Lindsay Frolic by Mt. Livermore). But, in the middle of the track, Draw It was motoring. Sanadaat held on for a bit, but Draw It moved on by for a 1 1/4 victory. Sanadaat was almost 4 in front of third-place La Rumba. My Other Girl was gaining late to pick up fourth. She couldn't crack the top three, but her finish was an improvement over previous starts. We'll see if it was the slop, or a sign of better things to come. Watch the Replay.
