Eltheeb Shakes Off The Blues

All six ran on the fast track. Corundum (A. P. Indy - Believe (JPN) by Sunday Silence) was the even money choice. Eltheeb (Bernardini - El Raabi by Fusaichi Pegasus) was respected at 2-1, and Acadian Blues (Bluegrass Cat - Dancing Gulch by Gulch) was 6-1. Merensky Reef (A.P. Indy - Platinum Tiara by Cozzene) looked good on the track. Corundum outbroke the field, and Merensky Reef took after him. Eltheeb and Acadian Blues were together in third and fourth. Corundum and Merensky continued 1-2, but then Eltheeb made his move on the outside. There was no response from Corundum as Eltheeb zoomed on by. Acadian Blues went by Corundum as well. Although he was no match for Eltheeb, who crossed the line 4 3/4 lengths in front, Acadian Blues was more than 8 in ahead of the other four. The MaidenWatch exacta paid $28.40. Watch the Replay.

Artisanal Screams Home

The turf was firm, and all 9 fillies ran. Refugio (Bernardini - Storm Minstrel by Storm Cat) took early money, but was 5-1 at post time. Artisanal (More Than Ready - Lo Cal Bread by Native Prospector) was favored at a tick under 2-1. Silver Screamer (Cozzene - West Sider by Gone West) caught my eye as they headed to the track. Refugio looked good out there, but I loved the way that Artisanal was warming up. The start was good. Silver Screamer went to the front, with Bay Head Beauty (Johannesburg - Risky Double by Unbridled) and Artisanal chasing. Refugio had a good spot on the rail in fourth. Artisanal made her move on the outside, and got by Silver Screamer late for a smart length victory. Refugio lost third late to a hard charging Bizzy Caroline (Afleet Alex - Sacre Coeur by Saint Ballado). She's definitely one to watch next time out. Watch the Replay.

Making Beautiful Music

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Maclean's Music (Distorted Humor - Forest Music by Unbridled's Song) was favored, but Flightofalifetime (Werblin - Dreamflight by Fly So Free) also took lots of action. Star Dance M D (Henny Hughes - Dance Alexa by Southern Halo) was almost 12-1. Maclean's Music went right to the lead. Cherryzapper (Ghostzapper - Irish Cherry by Irish Open) briefly went after him, but a more persistent pursuer was Flightofalifetime. Star Dance M D stumbled a bit at the start, and was near the back. Flightofalifetime moved close to Maclean's Music on the turn, but Maclean's Music hadn't even started running yet. He opened up to win by 7 1/4 lengths. Flightofalifetime was secure in second, and 40-1 Fiarano (Forestry - Pitbullette by Unbridled) did some running late to pick up third. Star Dance M D wasn't much involved, finishing 6th. Eltheeb ran a very big race yesterday, bigger than the summary indicates. He was behind a slow pace and just ripped the race apart in the middle. Blinkers really seem to have helped this guy.
