Lining Up a Victory

All 12 ran on the fast track. Bid a Moon (Malibu Moon - Reserve Bid by Pine Bluff) was favored, while Light the Hughes (Henny Hughes - Light Show by Pleasant Colony) was 44-1. Love Like Ours (Medallist - Wise Love by Dixieland Band) sprinted to the lead, and was soon 5 lengths in front. The pack began to gain, however, led by Line It Up (Forest Wildcat - Danzig Point by Point Given). She went on by, and pulled away for a 1 3/4 length win. Favorite Bid a Moon was gaining late, but had to settle for second. Reflecting Riva (Lion Hearted - Riva's Reflection by Silver Deputy) passed a couple to take show, and Love Like Ours tired to finish 7th. Light the Hughes never did much running, finishing 12th. Bluegrass Bull (colt; Bluegrass Cat - La Gomera (IRE) by Hamas (IRE)) was a DNF in race 5 at Oaklawn Park, a 1 1/16 mile Allowance race, after he was distanced on the far turn. He may have been over matched in this one, as the winner was Northern Giant (Giant's Causeway - Jessi Take Charge by War Chant), who was grade II stakes-placed last year, and has earned $261,583 in his career. Bayou Road (filly; Bellamy Road - Prissy Slippers by Smoke Glacken) was scratched from race 2 at Fair Grounds, a mile and 70 yard Maiden Claiming race (Claiming Price $15,000) for Louisiana-bred three-year-old fillies.

R Gypsy Gold (filly; Bernardini - Broadway Gold by Seeking the Gold) did not get in off the MTO list for race 6 at Gulfstream, a Maiden Special Weight run at 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

Milky May (Bluegrass Cat - Cabo Sunrise by Elusive Quality) will try Mountaineer for his third start. His previous races were at Turfway, where he finished 4th at a mile on February 20, and 8th at 6.5 furlongs on March 5. He showed speed in both of those races. Milky May was a $30,000 yearling, and is out of the winning mare Cabo Sunrise. Cabo Sunrise has produced 3 winners from 4 to run. She is a half sister to 4 winners, including grade II winner Dream Run.

Incantation (Bowman's Band - It's Witchcraft by Fly So Free) also ran at Turfway on March 5, but in a 5.5 furlong Maiden Claiming race where he finished 2nd. It was his only start. Leroy's Deputy (The Deputy (IRE) - T. V.
