Love Theway Youwin

Tizza Trick (Tiznow - Bright Magic by Prized) was scratched, leaving 5 to run on the fast track. Working At Night (Tiznow - No Reason by Precise End) was favored, but Heidi Maria (Rockport Harbor - Third Street by Salt Lake) was respected at 2-1. She was on her toes in the paddock, and Seekitana (Unbridled's Song - Santona (CHI) by Winning) was also displaying some spunk. Heidi Maria broke well and went to the front, pressed by Seekitana. They were not setting the swiftest pace, and Heidi Maria looked pretty comfortable out there. There was a bit of a break back to Anniversary Girl (Aragorn (IRE) - Whalah by Dixieland Band) and Working At Night, with Love Theway Youare (Arch - Diversa by Tabasco Cat) trailing. Heidi Maria continued to lead into the stretch, but company was coming. It was Love Theway Youare who was gaining best, and she moved past Heidi Maria for a 1/2 length win. Heidi Maria was another 1/2 length in front of Anniversary Girl. The front was probably not the best spot for Heidi Maria, but she ran well in defeat. Watch the Replay.

R Gypsy Gold ran a strange race. She was under the gun before for the clubhouse turn and looked done - I thought she was going to be beaten around 6 or 7 lengths - but she ended up finishing well and only lost by 2 lengths.

Date to Remember showed nothing.

It's odd with Bernardini - with almost no exceptions, all his promising horses are colts. He's had very, very few good fillies.

I wanted to place this here because once upon a time bloodhorse wrote about two two-year-olds with great articles how talented they were-that went and had awesome racing careers, they may have been short but they brought fans back to horseracing with heart-warming gusto! and to read the daily racing form that Afleet Alex and Smarty Jones will not be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame is unbelievable! Let me refresh the people's minds that nominate  hopefully they will read this-Smarty Jones packed a wallop racing even to the point nuns from a convent found a way to root for their hero! Afleet Alex fell, got up and won the Preakness and helped millions of children with cancer through charitable earnings. And to top that which can't be done-their "sons" walked side by side in the Kentucky Derby together. We need to put the "heart" back in our ballots for racehorses. They are more than just a two-minute flash-by at the rail. Smarty Jones and Afleet Alex brought children a hero-just as Seabiscuit did. And you know what these two great racehorses are Hall of Famers in their fans' eyes-So there!
