Stakes Results

Kindersley (filly; Bernardini - Home Court by Storm Cat) was involved early in the Gulfstream Oaks (gr. II), but couldn't keep pace. The jump from maiden to grade II race may have been a bit much. The winner was R Heat Lightning (Trippi - Yellow Heat by Gold Fever) by an impressive 8 1/4 lengths. Second-place finisher Island School (A.P. Indy - Mumbo Jumbo by Kingmambo) seemed poised to catch R Heat Lightning, but she was over matched. That one still has some improvement in her, however. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Gulfstream Oaks here.

MTO Gallant Dreams (colt; Bernardini - Dreams Gallore by Silver Ghost) was scratched from the Alligator Alley Stakes at Gulfstream, as it stayed on the turf. The winner was favorite Longhunter (Halling - Dawnus by Night Shift), with Derby Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Blush by Menifee) finishing well for second. Watch the Replay.

Stirring Up Some Chatter

In Confidence (Eavesdropper - Simply Nod by Secret Hello) was scratched, and the track was fast. Bluegrass Chat (Bluegrass Cat - Reason to Talk by Sabona) was the heavy favorite. First-timer Ruler King (Forestry - Manistique by Unbridled) ran off in the post parade, but made it to the gate. Bluegrass Chat broke from the outside, but came out running and was able to cross over to the rail to the lead. Ruler King and Mugsy Dehere (Dehere - Shadowy Waters by Wild Again) were chasing, but Bluegrass Chat was moving pretty easily. Bluegrass Chat's jockey Antonio Lopez was using lots of energy peeking back at the rest of the field, as they moved farther and farther away. At the wire, Bluegrass Chat was more than 10 in front. Mugsy Dehere took second, and Purely Business (Pure Precision - Dorene by Alaskan Frost) was third. Watch the Replay.

Maria's Day

All nine ran on the fast track. You're Kidding (Lemon Drop Kid - Tom's Kid by Capote) took the early money, but R Gypsy Gold (Bernardini - Broadway Gold by Seeking the Gold) was favored at post time. My Other Girl (Bernardini - Guilty Pleasure by Pine Bluff) was 15-1, and debuting Date to Remember (Bernardini - Fashion Star by Chief's Crown) was 20-1. Mayday Maria (Maria's Mon - Boston Express by Boston Harbor) caught my eye in the paddock. Date to Remember looked good. The start was good. My Other Girl was involved early, but it was You're Kidding and Mayday Maria who moved to the front to set the pace. R Gypsy Gold settled mid-pack, and Date to Remember, off a beat slow, was near the back. You're Kidding continued to lead, with Mayday Maria continuing her assault. Expresso Run (Medaglia d'Oro - Runnin Ute by Gone West) was chasing the top pair, and R Gypsy Gold was making up some ground. Mayday Maria and You're Kidding battled to the wire, with Mayday Maria getting her head in front late. R Gypsy Gold was no threat those two, but she never stopped running, claiming the third spot. My Other Girl tired to 5th, and Date to Remember never got in gear, finishing 8th. I'm thinking that Mayday Maria needs to race against the Rockport Harbor filly May Day Rose.Watch the Replay.

A Savvy Win

All 12 ran in this one. Savvy Supreme (Distorted Humor - Outsource by Storm Bird) received all the early attention from the bettors, but Heir to Dare (Wildcat Heir - Daringly by Tactical Advantage) was the slight choice at post time. Graceontour (Henny Hughes - Shappy by Really Secret) was 4-1, and Marblehead Harbor (Rockport Harbor - Marzi by Defrere) was 74-1. Caught My Heart (With Distinction - Caught Ree by Eastern Echo) caught my eye. With the Current (Mr. Greeley - Kresgeville by Bertrando) was looking good. Graceontour broke on top, but was unable to get to the rail from her outside post, and soon dropped back. Instead, Savvy Supreme went to the lead, with Caught My Heart and Heir to Dare up there as well. Savvy Supreme continued to lead into the stretch, and then began to lengthen her advantage, winning by 5 1/4 lengths. Heir to Dare just held off Air Guitar (Five Star Day - Air France by French Deputy) for second. With the Current closed some to take fourth. Graceontour was used up by her early speed, finishing 8th. Marblehead Harbor never really picked up her feet, finishing 12th (last). Watch the Replay.

Magoo Shows the Way

Cavaichi (Fusaichi Pegasus - Houston Tune by Houston), part of an entry with Town of Towns, was scratched, as well as Irish Frankie (Teton Forest - Time Honored by Gilded Time). Magoo (Bring the Heat - Frysland by Stravinsky) was favored, and he looked the part. Ocho Caballero (Rockport Harbor - Dorothy's Wager by Valid Wager) was 6-1. This was a nice looking bunch. In addition to Magoo, Town of Towns (Speightstown - Keepondealing by Friendly Lover), Ice Pilot (Smart Strike - Cry of the Wild by Unbridled's Song), Bijoux Bon (Pure Prize - La Ballerine by Matter of Honor), and Ocho Caballero were looking especially ready to roll. I Want You to Know (Dixie Union - Princess Ruckus by Bold Ruckus) was off slowly, and Town of Towns broke outward. Favorite Magoo went to the front, but Guitar Solo (Songandaprayer - Bring the Noise by Dixieland Band) was right with him. Quarry of Gold (Seeking the Gold - Spring Meadow by Meadowlake) and Town of Towns were up close too. Magoo and Guitar Solo continued to battle with Magoo 1/2 length in front at the finish. Bijoux Bon finished well for third, and Ocho Caballero was running some at the end to take fourth. Magoo's victory was the 5th for Wesley Ward at Woodbine Saturday. Watch the Replay.

Get Back Man to the Front

The only scratch was Alert Rocket (Aldebaran - Champ's Rocket by Fabulous Champ), and the track was fast. Hunter Mill (Dehere - San Arroyo by Meadowlake) was favored, and Milanese (Bernardini - Western League by Forty Niner) was 10-1. Bubba Who (Unbridled's Image - Storm's Cup by Storm Creek) caught my eye on the track. Cowboy's Prayer (Songandaprayer - Cathy's Dynasty by Gate Dancer) set the pace with Bubba Who chasing. Milanese was up there too. Cowboy's Prayer continued to lead, but he was getting weary. Bubba Who made a move, but Get Back Man (Toccet - Pearl City by Carson City) was closing faster. He swept by for a 3 1/4 length victory. Bubba Who got by Cowboy's Prayer for second, and Milanese tired to 8th. Watch the Replay.

Keep On Singing to the Winner's Circle

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Miss Pasco County (Gibson County - Kiss n'Tell by Notebook) was favored, and firster Bella Road (Bellamy Road - Apple Creek by Cryptoclearance) was almost 10-1. Keep On Singing (Hennessy - Wood Pattern by Woodman) caught my eye. Miss Pasco County and Facey's Spirit (Pass Rush - Runnin N the Wind by Sefapiano) went for the lead. Facey's Spirit shook free from her rival, and built up a several length advantage. But, she couldn't hold it. Moving into the picture was Keep On Singing. Keep On Singing got by Facey's Spirit, and then held off the rest, led by Oodles (Quest - Medals Galore by Honour and Glory). Split Stream (Cashel Castle - Lakeline by Meadowlake) and Not Repentful (Repent - Ms. Rapunzel by Whitney Tower) finished in a deadheat for third, and Bella Road passed some tired ones to finish 6th.
