Royal Kintyre Takes Command

Bellerive (Greenwood Lake - Dancing Das by Rinka Das) was scratched, leaving 7 to run on the fast track. Royal Kintyre (Mull of Kintyre - Wildwood Royal by Royal Academy) was favored. A J's Dream (Rockport Harbor - Blackstone Clock by Private Terms) was dismissed at 24-1. The start was pretty decent, although first-timer Cerada's Image (Montbrook - Runaway Ridge by Runaway Groom) was a little slow, and looked a little uncomfortable in the early going. A J's Dream went for the lead along with Holy Classic (Sky Classic - Plight by Conquistador Cielo), and Royal Kintyre. A J's Dream had it for a bit, but was passed on the outside by Holy Classic. A J's Dream hung around for awhile, but then retreated and finished 7th (last). Holy Classic continued to show the way, with Royal Kintyre starting to show more interest. Royal Kintyre moved even on the turn, as Sunday Tea Break (Sunday Break (JPN) - Protea by Roanoke) and Explosive Dart (Wagon Limit - Dart by Farma Way) took third and fourth. Royal Kintyre took over as they entered the stretch, and poured it on, crossing the wire 12 lengths in front. Explosive Dart secured second, and Sunday Tea Break checked in in third.
