News and Notes

Sorry that I have been incommunicado as of late. A plumbing emergency and a writing assignment, had me preoccupied. However, we have not missed any starts from our 2-year-olds. I thought I'd post a few photos from Criminal Type of Filare l'Oro's debut on April 15 in which she finished fourth Watch the Replay. I will also update results from April 16, and works from April 16-19. Remember, anytime that you see one of our horses in person and have photos that you would like to share, send them to maidenwatch@bloodhorse.com, and I'll post them on the blog. Just make sure to include information on how you would like to be credited. Tomorrow, I will preview a 2-year-old contest at Keeneland.

Filare l'Oro headed to the gate for the first time.

I think this is the best shot of our girl.

Two-Year-Old Result

It'a All Threeanddonedan

The filly, Her Way (Service Stripe - Hill Keys by Ten Keys), was the only scratch, and the track was sloppy. Threeanddonedan (Dance With Ravens - So Smashing by Two Punch) was the heavy favorite. He broke on top. Getupwiththesun (Dance With Ravens - Winnie D. by Crafty Prospector) bore out at the start, but set out after Threeanddonedan anyway. Hark the Herald (Gators N Bears - Holly Jolly by Horatius) hesitated at the start. Threeanddonedan and Getupwiththesun battled into the turn, but then Threeanddonedan began to pull away. He cruised home 6 1/4 lengths in front. Getupthesun completed the Dance With Ravens-sired exacta. Squish (Friends Lake - Racene by Miner's Mark), appropriately for his name, closed well in the slop to take third. Watch the Replay.

Criminal Type

I love the way Filare L'oro's mane stands up like her sire's. I did notice after the race that she had ripped the chestnut off her right rear leg. It was kinda hanging there..ouchie ! Way to go May Day Rose...I have always loved Unbridleds Song and his offspring. Seeing his son's excell at stud is very cool. Rockport Harbor's dam, Regal Miss Copelan is one of the most striking mares I have ever seen. Her facial markings are stunning and she passed them on to Rocky and he is passing them on to his foals. Thank you so much for posting my photos.

Don from PA/DE

Wow, FIO sure looks like his daddy!

Brings me back to seeing him several times as a young one at DP.

Thanx, Don
