News and Notes

Sweet and Lowdown (Street Sense - Mombasa by Dynaformer) did not draw in off the AE list for Race 7 at Churchill Downs. The race was taken off the turf, and run on the good main track. The winner was Givhans Ferry (Congaree - Trepidation by Seeking the Gold), who ran down Poorlittlebridgett (Indian Charlie - Marina de Chavon by Exploit) and Charming Vixen (Bernstein - Sadler's Charm by Honour and Glory). Watch the Replay.

Three-year-old colt Ronald Reagan (Henny Hughes - Refugee by Unaccounted For) debuts in race 9 at Delaware Park on Monday, June 27. I've been looking forward to this one, if only for the race call possibilities.

A Whiskey Rebellion Overtakes the Midnight Vader

All nine ran on the sloppy track at River Downs. First-timer Whiskey Rebellion (Forestry - Running Debate by Open Forum) was even money. Midnight Vader (Invasor - Allou by Seattle Slew) was given a shot at 3-1. Hope Glitters (De Hero - My Bold Glitter by Glitterman) was a little wild in the post parade. Jean's Memory (Shaniko - Mispillion by Deputy Minister) made a good impression, although no one looked better than the favorite. Midnight Vader warmed up nicely. Risky Romance (De Hero - Glittering Risk by Take Me Out) was a bit reluctant to load. The start was fair. Freds Aly (Suave - Valleys Aly by Peaks and Valleys) went to the lead, but Midnight Vader was right there too. Rallying wide was Whiskey Rebellion, who rolled on by the field and kept going to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Midnight Vader was no match for Whiskey Rebellion, but he was 4 lengths in front of the rest. Somewhere, there is a win for him. Freds Aly held third over a fast-closing Risky Romance. Watch the Replay.

Well, I guess I lost that bet. I gotta say, I was kind of dissapointed to see none of the Hard Spuns who ran on Saturday won. But then it was nice to see Flashy Lassie win the Debutante. She's a really nice filly. I think Flashy Bull will become a good sire too, and jumped right up to the top of the Freshman sire leader board. He may be the best son of Holy Bull to come along to date, No disrespect to Macho Uno who has proven himself very nicely. I will be watching the Delaware Park race today, Good Luck to Filare L'Oro and Doin Hard Time.

Is there anyway to find out if Larry Jones is training any Hard Spun's?

There is a Hard Spun colt out of Dominique's Show named Circus Mondao.  He was exported.  Does anyone know if he's run or when he might make it to the races?  Thanks in advance for any information.
