Police Force (Street Sense - Land of Dreams (GB) by Cadeaux Genereux (GB)) finished 11th in his debut at Newmarket. He was off ok, although somewhat towards the back, and was shifted to the far side rail. He seemed to be running well while separated from the others on the rail, but weakened late. The winner was Rougemont (IRE) (Montjeu (IRE) - Spritza (IRE) by Spectrum (IRE)) over a fast-closing Sports Section (GB) (Any Given Saturday - Headline (GB) by Machiavellian). Watch Replay. Rougemont sold for $225,376 as a weanling, and is the first foal out of the winning mare Spritza. Spritza is a half sister to 3 winners, including stakes-placed A Portrait of A Lady (IRE). Stat Wins the Street Fight

Covert Ops (Smoke Glacken - Collusion by Broad Brush), part of an entry with Trade (Posse - Provincial by Pulpit), was scratched, as well as Quartermain (After Market - Desert Radiance by Desert Wine), leaving 7 to run on the fast track. Stat (Unbridled's Song - Di's Time by Gilded Time) opened at even money, and went down from there. Street Fight (Street Sense - Reportedly by Silver Deputy) was given a shot at 5-1. Stat looked awfully good as they headed to the track, and Patriotic Lion (Lion Heart - Patriotic Diva by Honour and Glory) seemed ready for action. Street Fight, debuting in blinkers, showed some spunk, and looked better as they warmed up. Backnbiz (First Samurai - Lady Fu Peg by Fusaichi Pegasus) broke on top, but Patriotic Lion and Rockin Boogie (Rockport Harbor - Only Seventeen by Exploit) went by him. Street Fight wasn't far off in third. Rockin Boogie shook free from Patriotic Lion, but Stat was coming. He rolled on by for a 2 length victory. Trade closed well to take second, and Street Fight held his own to claim third. An encouraging start for Street Fight, who should prefer a little more distance. Watch the Replay.

A New Wave

Apachee Tee (Lil E. Tee - Huatusco by Fast Play) was scratched, as well as Circular Street (Friends Lake - Sweet Juliet by Crafty Prospector) and Yorona (Storm Surge - Sumneytown by Deputy Commander). The latter two fillies are entered on July 10 at Arlington Park (see below). The bettors were focused on three of the fillies: Easy Touch (Van Nistelrooy - Princess Pegasus by Fusaichi Pegasus), New Wave (Tale of the Cat - Ecology by Unbridled's Song), and Stephanie's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Unfold the Rose by Catienus), with Easy Touch the slight favorite at post time. Tripping (Hard Spun - Mississippi Lights by Majestic Light) was 7-1. New Wave looked good jogging by, and Outbreak (Empire Maker - Robins Reign by Boston Harbor) looked like she might need a race. Stephanie's Kitten gave the others a head start. Easy Touch went to the front, chased by New Wave. New Wave caught Easy Touch, as Stephanie's Kitten began to make up ground. New Wave and Easy Touch battled to the wire, with New Wave prevailing by a neck. Stephanie's Kitten was gaining on the both of them at the finish, but settled for third. Tripping was in a decent spot early, despite being bumped at the start. She started retreating early, however, and finished 7th (last). Watch the Replay.

An Exclusive Win

Muchas Coronas (Macho Uno - Cascade Corona by Pine Bluff) was the only scratch, and the track was fast. Exclusive Diva (Bernardini - Puxa Saco by Dehere) was favored by a tick over Hardbody (Hard Spun - Zaheemah by El Prado (IRE)) and Talk to My Lawyer (Lawyer Ron - Infernal McGoon by Wekiva Springs). Hardbody looked good on the track, She's Tops (He's Tops - Love a Bull by Bull Inthe Heather) was a little wild. There was some protesting at the load with all these first-timers, including Talk to My Lawyer, who received some encouragement to enter the starting gate. Hardbody was among those going for the lead, along with Exclusive Diva, and Sea Splendor (Sea of Secrets - Tralee Rose by Alydeed). Sea Splendor weakened, but Exclusive Diva and Hardbody continued to duel. Making up ground was Talk to My Lawyer. Exclusive Diva pulled free in the stretch, and went on to win by 3 1/2 lengths, Talk to My Lawyer was second by 2 3/4 lengths, and Hardbody outfought Semele (Cahill Road - Castle Bravo by Delineator) for third. Interesting that the top three sires in this race in Washington were: Bernardini, Lawyer Ron, and Hard Spun. Watch the Replay.
