A Banner Bill Day

Italo (With Distinction - Dance Forthe Green by West by West) was scratched, leaving 5 in the Colin Stakes. My People (Corinthian - Last Vice by Vice Regent) opened up at unbelieveable 1-2. He drifted up to almost 4-1 by post time. The choice when they broke was Victoria Stakes winner Banner Bill (Rockport Harbor - Temporada by Summer Squall). He looked good in the paddock and on the track. Also looking good on the track was The Bear Vow (Broken Vow - Fashion Girl by Tactical Cat). My People looked ready to go. He did not break on top, but came through on the rail to grab the lead. However, Banner Bill and Town Prize (Speightstown - Prized Stamp by Prized) took after him. My People began to retreat after a half. Town Prize took the lead, and seemed to have Banner Bill beat. However, Banner Bill fought back, and surged to the front, winning by a clear length. The Bear Vow was running well late to take second, with Town Prize 9 lengths clear of fourth-place finisher Gin Joint (Macho Uno - Phil's Pill by Cozzene). My People checked in fifth (last) after his early action. Watch the Replay.

A Creative Victory

Sheer Talent (Wildcat Heir - Malpractice M. D. by Langfuhr) was scratched, allowing AE entrant Yankee Dan (Yankee Gentleman - Lady Fairfax (GB) by Sharrood) to run. Fit to Rule (Hard Spun - Sweet Minister by The Prime Minister) was favored, with A Toe by Three (Stormello - Carrie My Love by Meadowlake) also receiving attention from the bettors. Creative Cause (Giant's Causeway - Dream of Summer by Siberian Summer) caught my eye in the paddock. Bling Cha Bling (Too Much Bling - Surf Tide by Valid Expectations) looked good as well. Fit to Rule put in a favorable appearance on the track, and I was kind of attracted to Fear the Beard (Chapel Royal - La Belle Dame by Bertrando). The load was smooth despite the first-timers, and the break was fair. There was a scramble for the early lead, Creative Cause, A Toe by Three, Bling Cha Bling, and Rude Warrior (A.P. Indy - Raylene by Tabasco Cat) were all involved. Fit to Rule was a bit off the leaders. Creative Cause came through on the inside to claim first for himself. Then, in the stretch, he really took off, to win by better than 4. Bling Cha Bling completed the gray exacta, just holding off Fit to Rule, who was going well late. Impressive win for Creative Clause, and a nice debut from Fit to Rule. Watch the Replay.
