July 17 Maiden Result

Gabigotherway to the Winner's Circle

Hillingdon (Finality - Slewpast by Western Trick) was scratched, leaving 7 to run on a track labeled good. Monahee (Hard Spun - Monashee by Wolf Power (SAF)) was the lukewarm 3-1 favorite at post time. His favoritism was probably due mostly to his dam, Monashee, a grade III winner, who won or placed in 11 stakes at Hastings. Also getting play were debuting filly Gabigotherway (Quiet Cash - Kaluki by Go for Gin), and filly Cono Sur (Stephanotis - Portrait by Charismatic), who had finished third in her previous try. Monahee, who is a handsome gray, was acting up a bit in the paddock, and looked on edge on the track. Shingen Bolt (Storm Victory - Icecapade Star by Wander Kind) made a good appearance. Monohee came out of the gate quickly, but kind of looked like he didn't know what he was doing out there. Gabigotherway went to the lead, pursued by Cono Sur and J J's Gypsy (Wandering - Ruby's Orchid by Orchid's Devil). Gabigotherway began to shake free from her rivals. J J's Gypsy continued to chase, but Cono Sur began to retreat. Making up good ground was With Council (Lawyer Ron - With Flair by Broad Brush), and Royal Victor (Vying Victor - Two to Get Ready by Perfect Mandate) was closing as well. Gabigotherway went on to win by 2 3/4 lengths, with With Council and Royal Victor taking second and third. J J's Gypsy tired to fourth, and Shingen Bolt gained some to take fifth. Monahee came in 6th, looks like he could use some seasoning. Cono Sur tired, and finished 7th (last). Watch the Replay.
