Runnin to the Winner's Circle

All nine ran on the fast track. Runnin Bull (Flashy Bull - Show Legs by Silent Screen) took the early money, but Catch the Humor (Sharp Humor - Love Catcher by Pine Bluff) was favored at post time. They had finished 3rd and 2nd in a race at Parx Racing on July 4. Debuting Adirondack King (Lawyer Ron - Jostle by Brocco) was taking some action at the windows. Allthewayyeah (Corinthian - Royal Reserves by Forty Niner) was 12-1. He looked a little leggy, and I wasn't sure that 5 furlongs would be enough distance. Runnin Bull looked good, but I kind of liked first-timer Dr. Hollister (Dixie Union - Dyna Del by Dynaformer). Australis Forever (Badge of Silver - Wild for Jeanne by Wild Zone) looked a unsettled in the post parade, but Allthewayyeah warmed up nicely. The load was mostly smooth, although Dr. Hollister was a little reluctant. Master Deceiver (Bwana Charlie - Creative Trickster by Clever Trick) ducked in at the start, giving the rest a several lengths start. Fearsome (Speightstown - Miss Valiant by Valiant Nature) snagged the early lead, but Runnin Bull was after him. Allthewayyeah was near the back. Runnin Bull grabbed the lead, as Adirondack King and Master Deceiver made up some ground. Runnin Bull pulled away for an easy 2 1/4 length victory. Adirondack King took the place spot, and Master Deceiver finished an impressive third, after his adventurous start. Allthewayyeah passed a few to finish 5th. More distance should help him. Runnin Bull is the 5th winner for first-crop sire Flashy Bull. Watch the Replay.

A Moment in the Sun

All eight ran on the fast track. Az Ridge (Toccet - Unusual Spring by Unusual Heat) was the overwhelming favorite of the bettors, with Sun Country (Sun King - Thigh High Boots by Storm Boot) second choice at almost 5-1. English Code (English Channel - Mystery Code by Lost Code) was 32-1. He was full of vinegar in the paddock. Clever Plus (Value Plus - Tamalpais by Bertrando) looked good as they headed to the track. Az Ridge proceeded to attack his pony in the post parade, and Clever Plus showed some athleticism, kicking while warming up. All the 2-year-olds seemed to be getting anxious during the preliminaries, you couldn't almost hear the jockeys asking when post time would arrive. Despite the anxiety, the load and the break were fairly smooth. There was a battle for the early lead amongst Sun Country, Wolfmanlex (Lexicon - Hip Wolf by Northern Wolf), and Geronimos Cadillac (Kitalpha - North Coast Ltd. by Slew City Slew). Az Ridge moved to join the frontrunners, as Wolfmanlex retreated. But, in the stretch it was all Sun Country. He put away his rivals and kept going, crossing the line 9 lengths in front. Az Ridge was another 11 1/4 ahead of the others, who were paced by a tiring Geronimos Cadillac. English Code ran a little late to pick up fourth. Sun Country is the third winner for first-year sire Sun King. Watch the Replay.

I just watched Red Duke's race and I see why the other trainer had 4 entires. That was the most blatent case of blocking I have EVER seen. Unbelievable. Fallon should know better then to get trapped on the rail...damn! That just burn's my ass..haha.

Just watched on TVG, the stakes that Red Duke was in from England -What a horrible trip he had. I also don't think his Jockey make the best choices for him. Too bad as he may have been best but couldn't do anything today.

Criminal Type and AnneM - Totally agree about Red Duke. He may or may not have been best, but certainly didn't get a chance to show it. Didn't Fallon read the entries to know Hannon had 4 in the race? I was reading the comments on the article and one said that Fallon was 'nutmegged.' I think that's my word of the day.
