Vexor Proves Elusive

All seven ran on the fast track. Debuting Ranconteur (A. P. Indy - Miss Kate by Storm Cat) was favored, Seeker (Hard Spun - Classic Olympio by Olympio) was well-regarded at 5-2. He is a good looker, and had a lot of bounce in his step, as they moved onto the track. Vexor (Wildcat Heir - Real Clever Trick by Yes It's True), who had finished 2nd behind Artest (Hard Spun) in his debut, made a favorable impression. First-timer Win All (Tale of the Cat - Regala Di Trieste by Old Trieste) got a strong warmup, but he was cold on the tote board. The start was good, Vexor went to the front, but Seeker was right there. Vexor continued to lead, with Seeker chasing him. Elusive Story (Tale of the Cat - Elusive Honey by Elusive Quality) watched these in third. Seeker never stopped running, but he couldn't catch Vexor, who posted a 1 1/4 length victory. Elusive Story made up ground late, to just outnod Seeker for the second spot. It was more than 11 lengths back to the rest of them, headed by Affirmed Warrior (A. P. Warrior - Afirmada by Affirmed). This one was pretty much over at the break, as there was very little change in position. However, Seeker should move forward off of this effort. Watch the Replay.

Vexor was 3-1 because #7 Pletcher trained Raconteur took alot of $$$, because of bullet work of 36.54 3F at SAR 8/6/11 and because he was bumped at the break in his first and only previous race, which was won so impressively by Artest, he was my strong choice...also one of the SPA handicappers mentioned something like AP Indy sires (#7 Raconteur) has never won a first time race there 6 F or shorter? That was interesting to me, if he (Andy Sterling) was right. Good Day
