A Launch for the Win

Foreclosed (Kitten's Joy - Daylatedollarshort by Lemon Drop Kid) was scratched, allowing AE entrant Great Life (Pleasant Tap - Life's Great by Mt. Livermore) to run. The turf was firm. Gospel Hour (Songandaprayer - Emma Loves Marie by Wild Again) was the tepid 7-2 favorite, Marco's Bon Vivant (Hard Spun - Staraway by Star de Naskra) was almost 5-1. He looked ready. Grandstand (After Market - October Glory (IRE) by Cozzene) caught my eye in the post parade, but the favorite looked good as well. Grandstand fussed a bit at the load. The start was good, D'Wildcat Road (Forest Wildcat - Adel by Strawberry Road (AUS)) and Alexander Thegreat (Cat Thief - Daddy's Petunia by Run Softly) went for the lead. Operative Assets (A. P. Warrior - Added Asset by Lord At War (ARG)) and Gospel Hour were not far off. Marco's Bon Vivant was near the back. In the stretch, the race turned upside down, as the closers got involved, including Marco's Bon Vivant on the outside. Splitting horses was Saturday Launch (Any Given Saturday - Ardum Relaunch by Cee's Tizzy), who pulled away for a 2 length win. Downtown Driggs (Dr. Caton - Tejati by Tactical Advantage) and Marco's Bon Vivant were separated by a headbob for second, with 79-1 Downtown Driggs getting his nostril in front. Favorite Gospel Hour settled for fourth, and Grandstand closed to 5th. Saturday Launch is the second winner for Any Given Saturday, whose first winner came earlier in the day at Kempton. You Funny Man (Humming - Stormhill by Storm Boot) looked a little anxious in the paddock, but settled down nicely on the track. Crimson Chrome looked nice warming up.
