Barnyard Fiddler (Orientate - Erinyes by Seeking the Gold), part of an entry with Don's Birthday (Sligo Bay (IRE) - Green Banquet by Formal Dinner), was scratched, as well as Real Luck (Distorted Humor - Diplomat Lady by Forestry). The track was fast. Motor City (Street Sense - Shawgatny by Danzig Connection) was favored. He was channelling his father in the post parade, looking very good. Peter Louis (Vindication - Dynamite Eyes by Dynaformer) acted up at the load, but he broke on top. He was soon headed by Motor City. Also up close were Hertzel (Langfuhr - Wildcat Fan by Forest Wildcat) and Scatman (Scat Daddy - Hit It Here Cafe by Grand Slam). In Jeopardy (Johannesburg - Flat Fleet Feet by Afleet) was off a bit slowly. Motor City was still on top, with Scatman emerging as the only threat. Motor City continued to hold him off, however, coming up 3/4 length in front. Scatman was a good three lengths in front of In Jeopardy, who recovered from his slow start to grab third. Motor City is the fourth winner for Street Sense, and his first winner on dirt. After the race, Motor City propped, losing rider Calvin Borel, and took off. But, they were reunited for the Winner's Circle photo, and neither seemed to have suffered for the experience. Watch the Replay.

No Stopping Maria

There were no scratches, and the track is fast. First-timer Book Review (Giant's Causeway - Clever Babe by Distorted Humor) took the early money, but Stopshoppingmaria (More Than Ready - Skybox by Spend a Buck) was favored at post time. Be With Me (Corinthian - Sonoma Song by Unbridled's Song) was almost 17-1. She was full of beans in the paddock. Book Review acted up a bit during the load. Stopshoppingmaria broke on top, but Delightful Magic (Mineshaft - Magic Kitty by Storm Cat) took after her, despite stumbling at the break. Book Review and Terralba (Langfuhr - Marquee Attraction by Storm Cat) were in the next group. Stopshoppingmaria began to pull away from Delightful Magic after a half. Book Review took up the chase, but she was no match for Stopshoppingmaria, who slipped farther and farther away. The winning margin was 9 3/4 lengths. Book Review held second over Delightful Magic, while Centrique (Malibu Moon - Penny Marie by Sky Classic) made up some ground to get fourth. Be With Me had a decent spot on the rail early, but had to check on the turn and ended up 7th. Later in the day, My Miss Aurelia, who had defeated Stopshoppingmaria in their debuts, won the Adirondack. One wonders what would have happened if Stopshoppingmaria hadn't stumbled in her debut. Would she now be the undeafeated winner of the Adirondack instead of My Miss Aurelia. Watch the Replay.

A Silent Victory Saga

All 12 ran on the Polytrack. Eileen's Dream (Bernardini - Turbo Dream by Unbridled) was favored. Also taking some play was Love My Way (Pomeroy - Big City Joy by Joyeux Danseur). Corinthian Leather (Corinthian - Belle Excel by Gone West) was given little chance at 58-1. I kind of liked the look of Muse of Fire (Dixie Union - Big City Dream by Horatius). Love My Way went to the front. Eileen's Dream, Quine (Harlan's Holiday - Mountain Mambo by Mt. Livermore), and Sweet Nothings (Street Cry (IRE) - Dutchess Mojo by Deputy Minister) were close up. Love My Way sprinted away from the pack, but she was going fairly quick up there: :21.85, :44.98. In the stretch, Silent Saga (Silent Name (JPN) - Capotes Cielo by Capote) began to get involved. She went on by a tiring Love My Way, to win by 3 1/4 lengths. Closing well to pick up second was Special Charm (Dansili (GB) - Olympic Charmer by Olympio), and Love My Way did well to hold third. Corinthian Leather beat one, and was vanned off after the race. Silent Saga is the third winner for first-crop sire Silent Name. Watch the Replay.
