Too Much Voodoo

There were no scratches in the 5 horse race, and the track was fast. Debuting Voodoo Daddy (City Zip - Deadly by Williamstown) took the early money, but Rockin Boogie (Rockport Harbor - Only Seventeen by Exploit), 4th behind Stat on on July 9, was favored at post time. Sark (English Channel - November Snow by Storm Cat) was 7-1. Voodoo Daddy looked ready. Rockin Boogie looked good on the track, but so did Sark. As an aside, Sark's pony was a looker, loaded with chrome. The start was good, with Voodoo Daddy going right to the lead. Rockin Boogie set after him. Dattts Happy (Indian Charlie - Royal Cheer by Royal Anthem) and Sinatra (Harlan's Holiday - My Way by Unbridled's Song) were fighting for third, and Sark was sitting chilly at the back of the pack. Voodoo Daddy and Rockin Boogie continued 1-2. The fractions were pretty swift: :21.93, :45.00, but Voodoo Daddy seemed to get stronger. He pulled away for a 3 1/2 length victory. Rockin Boogie was more than 6 in front of Dattts Happy, who claimed third by three lengths over Sinatra. Sark ended up where he started, at the back, but he was moving at the end, just a neck behind Sinatra. Hopefully, we'll see Sark back on the turf, and going long next time. Watch the Replay.
