Mia Isabel Sails Over the Turf

Best Present Ever (Unusual Heat - Centerofattention by Beau Genius) was scratched, allowing AE entrant Avec Glass (Too Much Bling - Noelle by Sunny's Halo) to run. The other AE, Raesunbridledfaith (After Market - Unbridled Hope by Unbridled), stayed in the barn. The turf was firm for the remaining 10. Made to Love Her (Stevie Wonderboy - Love Boot by Storm Boot), Cascina (Dixie Union - Isabeau by Prospector's Pick), and Mia Isabel (Exchange Rate - Post Haste by Mr. Greeley) took the most money, separated by just a couple of ticks. Hard to Know (Hard Spun - Cozzena by Cozzene) was 10-1, down from her 15-1 morning-line. Smoke Train (Medaglia d'Oro - Stormy Spell by Tsunami Slew) caught my eye in the paddock. Mia Isabel looked good on the track, but I was having trouble with the feed, so there was little to compare her to. Smoke Train set the early pace, running off of the rail. Cascina, Duality (Stevie Wonderboy - De'jade by Songandaprayer), and Ali's Lake (Salt Lake - Alashir's World by Spinning World) were close up. Hard to Know trailed. Smoke Train continued to show the way after 6 furlongs, but her lead was diminishing. Rallying on the outside was Mia Isabel, who zoomed on by for a smart 2 1/4 length win. Cascina was more than 5 clear of Made to Love Her, and Smoke Train weakened to fourth. Hard to Know ended up 5th, not bad considering she was loafing at the back for most of the race. Hopefully, she'll learn something from this attempt. Ali's Lake broke down in the stretch, and was euthanized. Be warned, her break down is clearly visible on the replay. Watch the Replay.
