Hard Not to Like (filly; Hard Spun - Like a Gem by Tactical Cat) sat off the early pace, made her move on the turn, and held off heavy favorite Maritimer, and the rest of the boys, to win the 4th at Woodbine, a mile allowance on the turf. She is now a perfect 2 for 2 in her young career, with earnings of $96,408. Watch the Replay.

The Winning Spin

Mary's Choice (Fantasticat - Dipper's Image by Partner's Hero) was the only scratch, and the track was fast. Spinning Lady (Hard Spun - Global Finance by End Sweep) was favored, and Sensible Lady (Street Sense - Awesome Lady by Bianconi) was a tick under 7-1. Spinning Lady looked ready to go. Belong Together (Belong to Me - Daddy's Darling (BRZ) by Ghadeer (FR)) made a favorable first impression. The start was good for all except Athena's Action (Action This Day - Duke's Enya by Proudest Duke), who broke slowly and trailed. Spinning Lady wasted no time, going straight to the lead. Riley's Rampage (Domestic Dispute - Teen Drama Queen by Wekiva Springs) and Madame Galaxy (Greeley's Galaxy - Madame Music by Brahms) were her closest pursuers. Then, Belong Together took up the chase. But, Spinning Lady spurted away from them, building up a more than 4 length advantage, which stood as she crossed the wire. Riley's Rampage held second, and into the picture late was Sensible Lady, who took the show. Spinning Lady is the 11th winner for Hard Spun. Clearly, she had no ill effects from her gate scratch on August 14. It was also a nice debut for Sensible Lady to close at 4 furlongs in her first attempt.

Good Job to all the two year old winners, expecially the Hard Spun's. Can you tell me how Frisco Bay, a filly by HS, got on top of his money earners shart? Ive never heard of her and do not recall seeing her mentioned here. Shes won nearly 100K. Is she in Europe ? Also, Any word on Artest? I am anxious to see him run again.

Criminal Type - Frisco Bay has won one race, in Japan. She broke her maiden on August 20. This blog is primarily North American-centric, with a smattering of European thrown in. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to track other venues. By the way, after the next update, Hard Not to Like will be atop the earnings list for Hard Spun with $96,408.

Ahhh, she's in Japan, no wonder I have not heard of her. Thanks so much.

Another question, totally off topic, What do you think of Union Rag's ?  He is a stunning looking horse for sure. I really like him, and he looks like he can run all day.

The Hard Spun's are doing really well. I have Artest on my Equibase virtual stable and have not seen a work on that one since early July.

Criminal Type - I like Union Rags, but I'd have to see him duplicate the Saratoga Special form on a dry course before I'm really sold. You are right, he certainly is a good looker.

AnneM, I have two virtual stables, one Hard Spun's and one everyone else...The main thing that really concerns me about Artest is his trainer.. He is in Dutrow's barn and although I am willing to give Rick the benifit of the doubt until the KY or NY racing administrations make a dicision on his licensure.  I would prefer the horse was with someone else.
