Hard Not to Like (filly; Hard Spun - Like a Gem by Tactical Cat) was in a decent spot early in the Natalma Stakes (Can-III), but was shuffled back to the rear. She did some running in the stretch, coming on the outside, but could get no nearer than 5th. The winner was Northern Passion (First Samurai - A Touch of Glory by Golden Gear), who trailed early, but found her way up the inside. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Natalma here.

Spinning Lady (filly; Hard Spun - Global Finance by End Sweep) got in off the the AE list for the Miss Shenandoah Stakes at Charles Town. She was hustled out of the gate from her outside post, and put pressure on Dancing Anna (Cuvee - Mesabu by Fred Astaire). Spinning Lady, however, weakened in the stretch, and finished 7th. Dancing Anna went on to the win by a head over Swift Artist (Henny Hughes - Zahwah by Rahy). Watch the Replay.

Winning Gracefully

True Blue Julie (Bluegrass Cat - Julie Truly by Miner's Mark) was the only scratch, and the turf was firm. Six Strong Lady (Mizzen Mast - Heard It Before by Pulpit) took the early money, but Grace for Grace (English Channel - Sunette by Lil's Lad) was favored at post time, and she looked the part. Trois Famille (Quest - Bellanova by Tamayaz) looked a little anxious. Klondike Kate (Henny Hughes - Western Reel by Gone West) looked good out there, and she broke on top. But, Grace for Grace was right there too. Drama Drama (Lemon Drop Kid - Sixty Rocketts by Belong to Me) and April Sunshine (Dynaformer - April Starlight by Storm Bird) were up close. Grace for Grace held the lead. Drama Drama came up to challenge Grace for Grace, but she fought her off. Coming on late was Harlan Showgirl (Harlan's Holiday - Dynasharp by Dynaformer), who grabbed second. But, the victory belonged to Grace for Grace by a length. She is winner number 4 for English Channel.

Topping Big Girl

Vindi Princess (Vindication - Zuppardo Ardo by Zuppardo's Prince) was scratched, leaving 7 on the Tapeta. Big Girl (Street Sense - Quiet Celerity by Quiet American) was favored. Also getting play was City Expenses (Gotham City - Most Expensive by Out of Place), who looked good on the track. I'm Tops (He's Tops - Summer Sails by In Excess (IRE)) broke running. Ermine's Prayer (Songandaprayer - Ermine Fever by Capote) and City Expenses took up the chase, and Big Girl was near the back. I'm Tops bore out last start, so everyone was watching her on the turn. But, she took it like a pro, and only expanded her lead. She went on to romp by 9 lengths. Big Girl was running on late to take second over City Expenses. Hopefully next time Big Girl will get to run farther. Watch the Replay.

This is Our Entourage

Deo Goes Rocky (Beau Soleil - Jade Angel by Jade Hunter) and Minestone (Mineshaft - Date Stone by Forty Niner) were scratched from the main field. Minestone will run instead on Sunday (see below). Also scratched were the MTO and the AEs, including Knock Rock (Corinthian - Lady Cozzette by Cozzene), who runs on Sunday as well. The turf was firm. Our Entourage (Street Cry (IRE) - Sand Springs by Dynaformer) was the even-money choice. Five Sixteen (Invasor - Third Street by Salt Lake) was 16-1. Margano (Dynaformer - La Ville Rouge by Carson City), the full brother to Barbaro, was 5-1. Rock Harder (Rock Hard Ten - Abundance by Anabaa) was the one that caught my eye. Five Sixteen needed some persuasion to enter the gate, sans jockey. He came out running, however, going for the lead. Our Entourage went after him, along with Political Courage (Elusive Quality - Ladina by Wild Again) and Which Market (After Market - Witchy by Bel Bolide). Five Sixteen battled until the stretch, when he began to give way, leaving Our Entourage alone. Running on late was Gold Megillah (Purim - Touch Me Once by Touch Gold), but he came up just a bit short to Our Entourage. Which Market stayed around for third, and Rock Harder ran well late for fourth, after battling some traffic. Watch the Replay.

MTO Street Savy (KY)

I would say that the odds of Street Savy (Street Sense - Home Court by Storm Cat) running in this one are less than zero. Not only is she entered in a dirt race on Wednesday, but she also worked on Saturday, 4 furlongs in :50.13 at Belmont. However, 1 1/16 mile turf maiden turf races are usually fun and interesting, so I'll preview this one anyway. Street Savy finished 2nd in her only start, a 7 furlong contest run on a sloppy track at Saratoga on August 21, behind 10 1/4 length winner Spare Change. Street Savy is out of grade III stakes-placed Home Court, who was a winner at 2. Home Court has produced three winners from four to run. She is a full sister to stakes winner One Nice Cat, and a half sister to one winner. Her dam is champion Jewel Princess. Street Sense's 22 runners have made 39 total starts, recording 7 wins, 8 seconds, 6 thirds, and $320,160 in earnings.

Joining Street Savy on the MTO list is unraced Vacationing (Harlan's Holiday - Seattle Qui by Seattle Slew), who sold for $300,000 as a yearling. She is a half sister to 2 winners, including stakes winner Classical Slew, who won his first 2 races at 2, including the Willard L. Proctor Memorial Stakes. Seattle Qui, dam of Vacationing, is a half sister to 11 winners, including stakes winners Alybgood and Quartier Latin, and group II winner Que Belle.

Another entrant unlikely to run in this one is Assateague (Stormy Atlantic - Amelia by Dixieland Band), since she a hard fought second at a mile on the turf at Belmont on September 16. She was probably entered in this one in case of rain Friday. She previously finished 7th at 5.5 furlongs on turf at Saratoga on August 5. She is out of turf stakes winner Amelia, who was placed at 2. Amelia earned $179,565 overall, and has produced turf stakes-placed Kindergarden Kid, a winner on the turf. Amelia is a half sister to 4 winners, including stakes winner Alchemilla, and group III turf winner Bertolini.

Singn On Themoon (Malibu Moon - Listen to My Song by Unbridled's Song) and Richbelle (With Distinction - Misty Springs by Wild Again) finished 6th and 7th, a length apart, in a 5.5 furlong race on a muddy track at Saratoga on August 21, a race originally scheduled for the turf. It was the first and only start for both. Singn On Themoon is a half sister to one winner, and a full sister to the turf winner Sing My Song. Listen to My Song, dam of Singn On Themoon, is a half sister to 4 winners, including stakes winner Indy Bird and grade II winner Listen Here. Two of her offspring won at 2. Misty Springs is a half sister to 5 winners.

Bargain Blitz has three additional starts, she was 6th at 5.5 furlongs on the dirt at Saratoga on July 22, 2nd at 5 furlongs on the dirt at Churchill Downs on June 19, and 10th at 5 furlongs at Churchill Downs on May 27. Bargain Blitz is a full sister to 3 winners, including turf stakes-placed Bergerac and grade II turf winner T. D. Vance, who earned $576,959. Bargain Blitz is also a half sister to 5 winners, including turf stakes-placed Unalienable Right. In all, four of Bargain Blitz' siblings won on the turf, and three won at 2. Freedom of Speech, dam of Bargain Blitz, is a full sister to two winners, and a half sister to 7 winners, including grade I winner Finder's Fee, and Tax Ruling, a grade I winner over jumps. Wait Til Dawn, who was favored on August 14, has no other starts. She is out of Path of Thunder, a stakes winner on the turf and dirt, who earned $246,170. Both races were at Penn National. Chuain Meala is the first foal out of the turf winning mare Honey's Sky. Honey's Sky is a half sister to one winner.

McCarren Park (Posse - History by Coronado's Quest) was third in her only race, a 5.5 furlong race at Saratoga on August 12. She was purchased for $75,000 as a yearling, and is a half sister to the winner Ky History. History, dam of McCarren Park, is a half sister to 7 winners.

She is out of turf stakes-placed Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a half sister to 8 winners, including group II turf stakes-placed Tascilla.
