Not an Altar Boy gets a License to Bling

All seven ran on the sloppy track. The entry of License to Bling (Too Much Bling - Awesome Eve by Awesome Again) and Brass Buckle (Proud Citizen - Barnsy by Langfuhr) was favored. Midnight Vader (Invasor - Allou by Seattle Slew) was given a shot at 5-2. Not an Altar Boy (Teuflesberg - Laird's Honor by Honor Grades) broke on top, but let License to Bling go by to set the early pace, and assumed a chasing position. Brass Buckle and Doctor Diego (Honour and Glory - Thedoctorscat by Tale of the Cat) were next in line, and Midnight Vader was 5th early. License to Bling sprinted a couple of lengths free. Not an Altar Boy and Brass Buckle began moving as a team, but then Not an Altar Boy left Brass Buckle behind to go after License to Bling. Not an Altar Boy caught License to Bling on the turn. License to Bling fought back, but Not an Altar Boy took it by a length. It was more than 13 lengths back to third, which was shared by Brass Buckle and Doctor Diego, who finished in a deadheat. Midnight Vader finished 6 lengths behind the deadheated pair in fifth. Past performance seemed to hold up in this one, as the 2 winners in the field dominated, and finished 1-2. Not an Altar Boy is the first repeat winner for his sire, Teuflesberg. Watch the Replay.
