Purple Barbie Gets Wicked

Barbara Please (Gentlemen (ARG) - Broken Tiara by Broken Vow) was scratched and the track was fast. Purple Barbie (Flatter - Darmane by Mane Minister) was favored, and Snakeinthegrass (Bernardini - Boa by Rahy) also received some interest. Clearly Wicked (Corinthian - Tzara Band by Dixieland Band) was almost 8-1. Snakeinthegrass and Purple Barbie went for the early lead. Clearly Wicked was sitting off the pace. Giacomae Mountain (Giacomo - Cadillac Mountain by Trempolino) hesistated at the start, giving the others an advantage. Purple Barbie and Snakinthegrass continued to duel into the stretch, when Purple Barbie began to pull away. She went on to post a 4 1/2 length victory. Closing well to pick up second was Clearly Wicked, another positive outing for her. Kid Rockette (Lemon Drop Kid - Race Rocks (IRE) by Rock of Gibraltar (IRE)) ran evenly to take third, Snakinthegrass tired to fourth, and Giacomae Mountain and Matadora (Tomahawk - Platinum Hope by Carr de Naskra) were both eased. Enough Said

Esson (Afleet Alex - Cheerful by Dixieland Band) was scratched, leaving 5 to run on the fast track. Done Talking (Broken Vow - Dixie Talking by Dixieland Band) was the clear favorite, but Night Seeker (Harlan's Holiday - Tamina by Dixie Union) and Holy Invader (Invasor (ARG) - Mariisima (PAN) by Jed Forest) both took some play. Night Seeker looked good in the paddock, and Scotchnwater (Lunarpal - Heavy Waters by Meadowlake) was displaying some pep. Holy Invader is a big guy. Night Seeker and Scotchnwater started best. Done Talking came up the rail to join the top pair, but had to check off heels and retreated a bit. Holy Invader was looming on the outside. Night Seeker shook free from Scotchnwater, but both Done Talking and Holy Invader were coming. Done Talking flew by on the outside to post 1 3/4 length victory, while Holy Invader outfinished Night Seeker to claim second. Nice debut for him. I'm already looking forward to his next start.
