News and Notes

Hunt Crossing (Corinthian - Silver Lace by Silver Deputy), who was pre-entered in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint, injured his knee and is out of the Breeders' Cup. He underwent surgery on Tuesday. Read more about Hunt Crossing's injury here.

As Breeders' Cup gets closer, the blog posts will get leaner, as Breeders' Cup responsibilities take precedence. However, I will try to post some photos of Maiden Watch horses prepping for the big days.

It was Indyniable

Lead Me Not (Speightstown - Into Temptation by Kris S.) was scratched, leaving 11 on the Polytrack on this rainy day. Indyniable (A.P. Indy - Maizelle by Seeking the Gold) was favored at 2-1. Run for Love (Corinthian - Lily's Affair by Colonial Affair) was just under 5-1, and Clear Danger (Hard Spun - Present Danger by Souvenir Copy) was almost 8-1. I thought that Charlotte's Rose (Street Cry (IRE) - Island Sand by Tabasco Cat) and Twitter Pie (Harlan's Holiday - Bird Chatter by Birdonthewire) both looked good in the warm-up. There was a scramble for the early lead, 54-1 shot Daddy's Rose (Scat Daddy - Santa Rosalia by Saint Ballado) emerged with it, hounded by Swaythisaway (Scat Daddy - Oscillate by Seattle Slew) and Run for Love. Mollie's Prize (Pure Prize - Ultreya by Gone West) was just off of these leaders. Clear Danger was in a good spot, around fifth. Daddy's Rose continued to lead, as Swaythisawy and Run for Love began to retreat. But, flying into the picture was favorite Indyniable, who wore down Daddy's Rose for a length victory. Daddy's Rose was more than 2 in front of a closing Twitter Pie, who was a nose better than Lady Candidate (Bob and John - Caucus by General Meeting). Clear Danger ran evenly to finish 5th, and Run for Love tired to 9th. A professional looking win for Indyniable, but great debut for Daddy's Rose, and not a bad debut for Run for Love, who should move forward off of her speed and fade effort. Watch the Replay.
