Lady Luck

The track was firm. Twelve ran, with only the AEs and the MTOs staying in the barn. Bromelia (Unbridled's Song - Elle Meme by Zilzal) opened as the tepid choice, but was even money by post time. Little Bailey (Hard Spun - Laun Shaw by Relaunch) was 9-1, and Wish Keeper (Hard Spun - Wacky Patty by Formal Dinner) was over 50-1. Uptown Bertie (More Than Ready - De Bertie by De Niro) made a favorable impression in the paddock, Bromelia looked good on the track. Little Bailey is easy to spot, a snowy white gray. Wish Keeper and Lady of Shamrock (Scat Daddy - Blushing Issue by Blushing John) were off a little slowly. Little Bailey went to the front. Wendy and Her Cats (Vindication - Inviting by Exploit) was involved for a time, but bore out and ended up being pulled up. Little Bailey continued to lead, with Molly Morgan (Ghostzapper - Capitulation by Distorted Humor) applying pressure. Bromelia began moving. She hit the front, as Little Bailey began to fade. Coming from the back of the pack was Lady of Shamrock. She caught Bromelia, and these two went head and head for a time. At the wire, Lady Shamrock was a head better than Bromelia. It was a long way back to Molly Morgan in third, with Uptown Bertie taking fourth. Wish Keeper was running late to finish 6th, and Little Bailey tired to 9th. Watch the Replay.

It was a Consortium

AE entrant Junebugred (Corinthian - Dixie Melody by Dixieland Band) was scratched. Also scratched were Great Opal (Greatness - Opaline by Skip Trial) and Perfect Trippi (Trippi - Roger's Sue by Forestry), leaving 12 on the fast track. Love to Run (Pulpit - I Love America by Quiet American) was favored. Common Bond (Hard Spun - Pilfer by Deputy Minister) was almost 10-1, Rapacious (Street Sense - Hidden Pleasure by Proper Reality) was 24-1, and D' Pepjo (Hard Spun - Cloud Break by Dr. Carter) was 30-1. Rapacious looked kind of nice in the post parade, and I was liking Rise Against (Discreet Cat - Yolie's Choice by Silver Deputy). The break was pretty fair. D' Pepjo went for the lead, Love to Run was up there too, and Rapacious was not far off. Love to Run moved even with D' Pepjo, and then hit the front. But rolling on the outside was Consortium (Bernardini - Marietta by Machiavellian), who went on by for an easy 4 3/4 length win. Rise Against was going well late to finish second, and School Spirit (Pulpit - Just a Ginny by Go for Gin) claimed third. Common Bond ran fairly evenly to finish 6th, D' Pepjo faded to 9th, and Rapacious tired to 12th. Watch the Replay.

Breezing By Van Tassel

The turf was firm, and only the AE and the MTOs were left out. Van Tassel (Corinthian - Adorahy by Rahy) was the tepid favorite, and Post Pattern (English Channel - Country Cookout by Formal Dinner) was almost 4-1. He looked good in the prelims. Summer Breezing (Langfuhr - Summer Solstice (IRE) by Caerleon) bounded to the lead. Sonnyandpally (City Zip - Riotous Miss by Brief Ruckus) was his nearest pursuer, with Van Tassel and Sleepy Freud (Freud - Pierian Spring by Signal Tap) close up as well. Summer Breezing continued to show the way, with Sonnyandpally and Van Tassel after him. The pace was slow, :25.12, :52.33, 1:17.81. Post Pattern made a move to get involved, but was stalled in traffic. Van Tassel came through on the inside, and moved even with Summer Breezing. But, Summer Breezing fought back, and they hit the line together, with Summer Breezing taking the photo by a head. Van Tassel was 3 3/4 lengths in front of the others, as there was not much separating Sonnyandpally, Sleepy Freud, Lone Star Gold (Freud - Gold Corazon by Gold Meridian), and Post Patter, who checked in in 6th. Summer Breezing was the only first-timer in the field. Watch the Replay.
