Icon Ike Steals the Mojo

Hero of Order (Sharp Humor - Ocean Sprite by Ocean Crest) was scratched, along with the MTOs. The turf was firm. Mojo Workin (English Channel - Laramie Moon (ARG) by Laramie Trail) and Take Heart (Lion Heart - Winsome Dame by Siphon (BRZ)) monopolized the attention of the bettors, with Take Heart favored at post time. They both looked good, and Icon Ike (Yes It's True - Robbie's Gal by Straight Man) made a favorable impression. Mojo Workin hesitated at the start, and was at the back. Swifty Uneaux (Orientate - Swifty Victress by Macho Uno) went to the lead, chased by Icon Ike, Love Reigns (Aragorn (IRE) - Our Love by Combat Ready), and Start the Party (Grand Slam - Evil's Causeway by Giant's Causeway). Icon Ike made his move in the stretch, and hit the front. Flying from the back of the pack was Mojo Workin. He caught Icon Ike at the wire. They were separated by a head-bob, but Icon Ike got his nose down for the win. Mojo Workin had to settle for second, but he won't be a maiden for long. Swifty Uneaux held third over Love Reigns, and Take Heart settled for fifth. Watch the Replay.

Culpepper Colonel Takes The Call(er)

All 7 ran on the fast track. Hard Facts (Hard Spun - Banshee Winds by Known Fact) opened as the even money choice, but Culpepper Colonel (Medallist - Oh by Afternoon Deelites) was the slight choice over Hard Facts at post time. Hard Facts looked good in the paddock. Spicer Cup (Louis Quatorze - Carni's Luck by Carnivalay) was a little rambunctious. First-timer  The Caller (Cozzene - Square Dance by Cobra King) looked good on the track. Airstream Driver (Scipion - Guess by Twining) outbroke the others, and was soon several lengths in front. Culpepper Colonel was the closest pursuer. Hard Facts trailed early. The Caller made a move on the turn. He and Culpepper Colonel battled to the wire, with Culpepper Colonel getting the victory by a neck. Airstream Driver tired to third, 4 1/4 lengths behind. Hard Facts did some running late to finish fourth. Watch the Replay.

A Fair Game

Only MTO Platinum Treasure (Mineshaft - Triple Treasure by Gone West) was left on the sidelines, as 12 ran on the firm turf. Game Fair (Quiet American - Passing Shot by A. P. Indy) was favored. Little Bailey (Hard Spun - Laun Shaw by Relaunch) was almost 12-1, and Cheimon (Corinthian - Storm City Blues by Carson City) was 17-1. She had some spring in her step, as they headed to the track. Normative Appeal (More Than Ready - Divine Lady by Kris S.) looked a little interesting on the track. Dixie Darling (Dixie Union - Holy Way by Holy Bull), Miss Suwanee (Mr. Greeley - Lindy Wells by A.P. Indy), and Donate (City Zip - Hollow Sky by Yes It's True) went for the lead. Dixie Darling got it, and sprinted away from the others. She was soon double digits in front. Little Bailey was amongst the chasing pack, and Cheimon was at the back. Dixie Darling continued to lead, but the others began to catch her. Beijoca (Dynaformer - Fazenda by Machiavellian) came up the rail to grab a short lead. But rallying on the outside was favorite Game Fair, who went by for a 3/4 length win. Beijoca held second, and longshot Cutie's Rosie (Discreet Cat - Song of Africa by Alzao) came running to pick up third, and Cheimon was also going well at the end to take fourth. Little Bailey tired to 12th. Dixie Darling weakened to 9th after her early action. Watch the Replay.

Oh my ! You forgot Margano. LOL. I'm kidding, I know you can't cover all of the maiden's running on any given day but he is the brother of Barbaro. He is in the 7th race at Gulfstream today a MSW going a mile and one sixteeth on the turf. I will be watching this one. Good Luck to WeeMissFrankie in the Starlet. She's a very nice filly. Her sire is in my freshman sire contest stable.

OK, I am off to my horses barn to feed and clean stalls (28 horses). Have a great day !

Like Hakama if he can hold off Raconteur late?  At Tampa...like Blue Highway for first timer, and my long shot is #9 NBA Money at a huge price. Exciting day at Tampa for 2yr olds...that is where I am looking for nice suprises today.Don

Don - Have to go with Knock Rock at Aqueduct. I have had a soft spot for him since he went to the far rail in his second start (and still finished third). I know, bet with your head and not your heart, but I probably won't have time to wager money today, anyway, so I'll go with the heart.

The Tampa Bay race is interesting. I love the turf at Tampa, someone always seems to come running late.

Great job Margano! Am trying to find the replay... it's always great to see a horse do good on his own. Yes he's a Barbaro brother, but he's also an individual. Can't wait to see him move forward. He likes the grass by the looks of it.
