Stakes Result

Seeker (colt; Hard Spun - Classic Olympio by Olympio) went for the early lead in the Remington Springboard Mile Stakes at Remington Park, but had company and was forced wide. He dueled for a time with longshot Pee H Dee, but then tired and finished 9th. The winner was Ted's Folly (Wild Tale - Tricksword by Sword Dance), who came from off the pace and went by everyone for a 1 1/4 length win. Ted's Folly has now won 6 races in a row, all at Remington Park, including three stakes. Watch the Replay.

No Catching Hakama

All 6 ran on the fast track. Hakama (First Samurai - Check by Unbridled) was the clear favorite. Knock Rock (Corinthian - Lady Cozzette by Cozzene) was 7-2. He looked good coming on to the track, and Lure of the South (Southern Image - Concolour by Our Native) caught my eye. Side Road (Street Cry (IRE) - Calla Lily by Pulpit) broke through the gate pre-start. Lure of the South was off slowly, and was also cut off by Side Road, who broke inward. Hakama went to the front. Ranconteur (A. P. Indy - Miss Kate by Storm Cat) was his closest pursuer, but he really wasn't applying any pressure. Knock Rock hopped at the start, but was in third early. Hakama continued to lead the parade. Side Road got a little closer, but no one was catching Hakama. He went on to win by 2 lengths over Raconteur, who was 7 in front of Side Road. Knock Rock, Ruthless Alley (Flower Alley - Endless Dream by Tale of the Cat), and Lure of the South completed the order. Watch the Replay.

Bridge to Winning

Only the AEs were scratched, and the turf was firm. The bettors had a little trouble deciding on a favorite. N. B. A. Money (Mr. Greeley - Mayo On the Side by French Deputy) was the early choice, then Blue Highway (Silver Train - Woodsia by Woodman) took a turn, and Purincat (Purim - Herecomesacat by Storm Creek) was the lukewarm pick at post time. Plausibly (Street Sense - Supposedly by Polish Numbers) was better than 27-1. Blue Highway made a favorable appearance, but Plausibly wasn't looking too shabby. I liked Patriotic Dream (Patriot Act - All My Dreams by Manlove) and Florida Holiday (Harlan's Holiday - Leslie's Lady by Tricky Creek) on the track. The start was decent. I Captivate Myself (Spanish Steps - Miss Kenai by Hennessy) went to the front, with Patriot Dream chasing. I Captivate Myself continued to lead, but he was rank up there. Plausibly was at the back. Florida Holiday, Purincat, N. B. A. Money, and On Stirling Bridge (Dynaformer - Kanerrerr by Danzig) were all getting involved. Florida Holiday took a short lead, but he was overtaken quickly by On Stirling Bridge, Purincat, and N. B. A. Money. On Stirling Bridge took it by a neck over Purincat, who was a head better than N. B. A. Money, with Florida Holiday back in fourth. Plausibly did a little running late to finiish 6th. Watch the Replay.

Other December 10 Result

Daniela's Flower (filly; Corinthian - Flowerette by Victory Gallop) made a big move on the turn, but flattened out and finished 5th in race 5 at Gulfstream Park, a 7.5 furlong Maiden Claiming Race (Claiming Price $35,000) on the good turf. Not a bad debut, especially considering that she was 84-1. The winner was favorite Candy Cat Can (Langfuhr - Bees by Rahy). Watch the Replay.
