Winning Fits Lisa to a T.

All 7 ran on the fast track. Lisa T. (Awesome Again - Supercharger by A. P. Indy), the half sister to Super Saver, was heavily favored. Be With Me (Corinthian - Sonoma Song by Unbridled's Song) was 7-2, and Race Palace (Corinthian - Southern Swing by Dixieland Band) was 6-1. She looked good in the paddock. I was liking Jiddy (Rockport Harbor - Miraculous Knight by Holy Bull) on the track, but not many others did. She was 24-1. The start was good for all except Darling Bridezilla (D'wildcat - Darling Bride by Unbridled), who stumbled badly. Jiddy went to the lead, with Lisa T. and Be With Me after her. Be With Her was a little rank on the inside, as Race Palace started to get involved. Lisa T. moved even with Jiddy, and then moved on by. She showed some greeness again, however, going wide on the turn. Malibu Holiday (Harlan's Holiday - Malibu Karen by Seeking the Gold) came running, which seemed to refocus Lisa T., and she took the win by a head. Malibu Holiday was better than 5 in front of third-place Scenic Gulch (Thunder Gulch - Scenic Point by Unbridled), who was moving well late. Be With Me was fourth, Jiddy tired to 5th, and Race Palace ended up 6th. Darling Bridezilla never really recovered from her stumble, and completed the field. The $3,250 earned by Be With Me for her fourth was enough to push sire Corinthian over the $1 million mark for prodigy earnings. He currently stands at $1,006,047 with one day left in the year. A Regal Victory

Only AE entrant Fabulous Sasha (Olmodavor - Fabulous Fury by Fabulous Frolic) was scratched, and the turf was firm. Coup (Empire Maker - French Lady (NZ) by Entrepreneur (GB)) was favored, and Thisizsparta (Corinthian - Deputy Sue by Lotareason) was almost 31-1. Tiz Sunset (Tiznow - Lipstick Sunset by Maria's Mon), the only first-timer in the field, set the early pace. Rock On Baby (Rock Hard Ten - Let It Roar by Roar) was chasing her, and favorite Coup was up close as well, despite a slow beginning. Thisizsparta was near the back early. Coup caught Tiz Sunset after a half, as that filly retreated. Emerging from the pack was Regalo Mia (Sligo Bay (IRE) - Shake It Up by Red Bullet), who wore down the favorite for a 1/2 length win. Coup was all out to hold off an advancing Marlin Mission (Strategic Mission - Flying Marlin by Marlin), who took third. Three lengths behind this pair, Sueno d'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro - Dream Wish by Kingmambo) was just a nose better than Thizizsparta, who found her rhythm in the late stages. Watch the Replay.

Groovin' to the Win

The track was fast, and all 8 ran. Cloud Hopper (Stormello - Tifonica (ARG) by Equalize) was favored by a few ticks over Candy's Jewel (Candy Ride (ARG) - All Pleasure by All Gone). Castaway (Street Sense - Priceless Storm by Storm Cat) was 7-1, but he looked good in the prelims, and he went to the front. Saturday's Charm (Any Given Saturday - Pout by Deputy Minister), Candy's Jewel, and Treacherous (Ghostzapper - River Savage (BRZ) by First American) were the early pursuers. Castaway sprinted away a bit on the turn, but company was coming. Groovin' Solo (Bob and John - Squall Linda by Summer Squall) made the first move, and Candy's Jewel was closing on the outside. Castaway fought on, but he had to settle for third, with Groovin' Solo getting the win by 1/2 length over Candy's Jewel. Even though he didn't get the win, it was good to see a positive effort from Castaway. Hopefully, this will lead to better things for 2012. Groovin' Solo is winner number 18 for Bob and John.
