January 4 Result

The Right Tude

All nine ran on the fast track. The bettors had a little trouble deciding on a favorite, finally deciding on St. Johnswood (Tiznow - Amazing Buy by High Yield) at 5-2. Hard Line (Hard Spun - Drawing a Blank by El Prado (IRE)) was just a couple of ticks higher, with Cop a Tude (Officer - Emotional Storm by Storm Boot) and Spanish Officer(Officer - Perilous Night by Coronado's Quest) also getting play. Dance Next to Me (Dance With Ravens - Irish Baroness by Larrupin') made a favorable first impression on me, but not on the bettors, going off at 27-1. Hard Line looked good on the track. He went for the lead along with Airstream Driver (Scipion - Guess by Twining). And then, St. Johnswood came up to join Airstream Driver in pressing Hard Line. Hard Line pulled away from that pair, but Cop a Tude was coming. He went on by Hard Line for a 3/4 length win. Hard Line held off a closing Nofinancingneeded (Teuflesberg - Mark Her Nasty by Miner's Mark) for second, and St. Johnswood tired to fourth. A nice debut from Cop a Tude, but another good performance from Hard Line as well. Watch the Replay.
