Favorite Sweet Seventeen (Hard Spun - Play Ballado by Saint Ballado) led most of the way in the Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct, but was caught late by Captivating Lass (A. P. Indy - Folk by Quiet American). Lady Clara (Hard Spun - Victorica by Exbourne) was 4 1/2 lengths behind this pair in third. Watch the Replay.

How Do I Win (ridgling; Corinthian - Silver Crown by Distorted Humor) chased pacesetter Il Villano (Pollard's Vision - Do the Wekiva by Wekiva Springs) early in the Count Fleet Stakes at Aqueduct, but weakened late and finished fourth. The winner was favorite Alpha (Bernardini - Munnaya by Nijinsky II) by 2 1/2 lengths over Stephanoatsee (A. P. Indy - Oatsee by Unbridled), who was running well late. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Count Fleet here.

Hierro (Hard Spun - Brief Bliss by Navarone) finished 5th in the Sham Stakes (gr. III) at Santa Anita, after pulling early. The winner was Out of Bounds (Discreet Cat - Unbridled Elaine by Unbridled's Song), who wore down favorite Secret Circle (Eddington - Ragtime Hope by Dixieland Band). Watch the Replay. The Hard Facts of Winning

There were no scratches in the 7 furlong race. Hard Facts (Hard Spun - Banshee Winds by Known Fact) was the heavy favorite, and he looked the part. He did not get off to the best start, however, breaking inward from his rail spot. This caused him to get shuffled back a bit. Going to the lead was Chief Mango (Concerto - Mango Lassie by Montreal Red) chased by Clear Reason (Vindication - Killoe by Kris S.). Hard Facts was in mid-pack, in a little tight at the rail. Chief Mango built up a several length advantage, and Clear Reason was another 4 lengths in front of the others. But, Hard Facts began moving. He took third, and then seized second. Chief Mango drifted out, which allowed Hard Facts to take the inside path. He kept coming and swept by for a 1/2 length win. Chief Mango was more than 9 in front of Clear Reason, who was secure in third. Watch the Replay.

An Unbridled Victory

The track was fast, and there were no scratches. Tiz Yankee (Tiznow - Petite Chatte by Storm Cat) was favored, and Thessalonian (Corinthian - Clear Destiny by Deputy Minister) was 5-1. Teeth of the Dog (Bluegrass Cat - Deputy Reality by Deputy Minister) and Tiz Yankee went for the lead. They were soon joined by Trusted Choice (Langfuhr - Cascade Rose by Giant's Causeway) and, on the outside, Thessalonian. Thessalonian was the first of the four to back off. Tiz Yankee, Teeth of the Dog, and Trusted Choice continued to battle, tracked by a slew of others, including Dixie Dice (Dixie Union - Lerici by Woodman) and Unbridled Minister (Unbridled's Song - Arabis by Deputy Minister). At this point, Thessalonian was still fairly close, and still on the outside. As the entered the stretch, Tiz Yankee remained in front, with Teeth of the Dog in close pursuit. But first-timer Unbridled Minister came between horses, and went by for a 3/4 length win. Teeth of the Dog got by Tiz Yankee for the second spot. Thessalonian flattened out and finished 6th. The Leading Hero of Order

All nine ran on the fast track. Debuting Castlepost (Lion Heart - Diamond Tiara by Mr. Greeley) was favored. Goingoingone (Corinthian - Clifton Bay by Gone West) was 14-1. I was liking Smoke It Over (Cherokee Run - Clary Sage by Shadeed) in the post parade, but Scat Chief (Scat Daddy - Heart of a Chief by Tabasco Cat) and Goingoingone looked decent, and Hero of Order (Sharp Humor - Ocean Sprite by Ocean Crest) looked ready for action. He went for the lead along with Spoiled Rotten (Congrats - Brouhaha by Mecke). Goingoingone was off well, in fourth early. Hero of Order and Spoiled Rotten continued together, with Koda King (First Samurai - Spring Morning by Mr. Prospector) making an appearance in third. Hero of Order pulled away in the stretch to register a 5 length win. Spoiled Rotten was well clear in second, and Goingoingone held off Collymore Place (Graeme Hall - Collymore Hall by Concerto) by a nose for third. Watch the Replay.

A $32,000 yearling, English Crossing is the first foal out of the unraced mare Lady Solvig. Lady Solvig is a half sister to two winners. Her dam is grade III turf winner Solvig, who earned $800,694.
