Getting The Max

The turf was firm. Only the MTOs and the AE were scratched. Silver Max (Badge of Silver - Kissin Rene by Kissin Kris) was favored.  Irish Sea (English Channel - Jamie's Coco Pop by The Name's Jimmy) was 6-1, and Common Bond (Hard Spun - Pilfer by Deputy Minister) was 7-1. He made a good impression in the paddock. I was liking Irish Sea and fellow first-timer Conserve (Tapit - Classic Woman by Storm Bird) on the track. But the favorite looked very impressive. Logan Street (Shakespeare - Moonlet Masquerade by Woodman) was reluctant to load, and was last at the break. Going to the lead was Silver Max, with Shaun Washington (Elusive Quality - Triple Act by Theatrical (IRE)) and Kissin Gentleman (Yankee Gentleman - Kissinleaf by Kissin Kris) chasing. Common Bond and Irish Sea both had to steady and were near the back. Silver Max and Shaun Washington continued 1-2 into the stretch. Making a late move on the rail was Irish Sea. He was no threat to Silver Max, who posted a 3 1/4 length win, but he got all the way up to second. Common Bond didn't make up many places, finishing 7th. Silver Max ran to his odds and looks, but nice debut from Irish Sea, who made up a lot of ground. Watch the Replay.

The Spirt of a Winner

Antrim's Legend (Giant's Causeway - Measure by Seeking the Gold) and Mango Tart (Friends Lake - Mango Kiss by Kris S.) were out, AE entrant Belle Gallantey (After Market - Revealed by Old Trieste) drew in. The turf was firm. Lovestealer (Artie Schiller - Merit Wings by Silver Hawk) took the early money, but Irish-bred She Spirit di Su (Invincible Spirit (IRE) - She Bat (GB) by Batshoof (GB)) was favored at post time. La Malaguena (English Channel - Brazilian by Stravinsky) was 4-1. She looked good in the walking ring. The start was good. My Sweet Candy (Candy Ride (ARG) - Jingle Berry by Two Punch) went to the front. Gia Is a Bella (Unusual Heat - Larue by Menifee), Lovestealer, Belle Gallantey, and La Malaguena were not far off. My Sweet Candy continued to lead, but she couldn't shake free from the competition. Lovestealer and La Malaguena both came after her, but flying on the outside was She Spirit di Su, who went by everyone for a 1 1/2 length win. Lovestealer took second by 1 1/4 lengths over La Malaguena, who was a clear third. Watch the Replay.

A Sweet Day

Shhh (Silent Name (JPN) - My Leisha by Miswaki) was scratched from the main field. AE entrant Intercompany Loan (Kafwain - Myreeg by Chief Seattle) drew in. The other AEs, including Cherishd Obsession (Corinthian - Silver Wench by Silver Ghost) and Queen of the Waves (English Channel - Clearly a Queen by Lucky North), and MTO Toxis (Street Sense - Instinct by Thunder Gulch) were left out. The turf was firm. Day of Litany (Tiznow - Day of Obligation by Deputy Minister) was favored. Royal Fury (Langfuhr - Miss Chapin by Royal Academy) was also respected. Wish Keeper (Hard Spun - Wacky Patty by Formal Dinner) was almost 8-1. Day of Litany broke running. She was pursued by Intercompany Loan. Wish Keeper at a spot on the rail near the front. Day of Litany and Intercompany Loan continued to show the way for a time, but then Intercompany Loan retreated. Sweet Flattery came on to challenge Day of Litany. But that filly was tough, and wouldn't let her by. This pair finished together. They examined the photo for a long time, but couldn't split them, as Sweet Flattery and Day of Litany finished in a deadheat. It was 2 1/4 lengths back to October Tempest (Theatrical (IRE) - October Winds by Irish River (FR)), who ran well to take third over Royal Fury. Wish Keeper weakened, finishing 5th. Any chance that there are race replays for Proud Pearl (race 6 @ Laurel Jan 14), Arm Force (race 7 & Gulfstream Park Jan 14/12) and Quick Wit (race 3 @ Gulfstream Park Jan 14/12)?

My Equibase hasn't wanted to open the pdf files for some time. Was curious how those horses did in their races. Thanks so much, I love the Maiden Watch blogs!

Tiz,  I've had the same issue with adobe. I am a Realtor, our MLS system is an adobe based print format and I print PDF files by the truckload. What I did, and I know this is a PITA, but it's the easiest solution. Uninstall your current version of Adobe. Once it is removed from your system. Go to Adobe.Com and download the newest version. That should stop your equibase issues.
